My brother shipped out to bootcamp earlier this week, and during the moment of truth at bootcamp, told them that he had been on antidepressants for a period more than a year ago. I think he hadn't realized he needed to disclose that since he only took them temporary, has been off them for more than a year, and is doing better than ever - so chronic depression isn't an issue for him. I think his recruiter told him not to even mention it. But, he told them about it at the moment of truth at bootcamp just to be safe. So, now he will be sent home from bootcamp and will need to wait for 6 months, be evaluated by a doctor, and will need a waiver - that was the last news we got from him.
If anyone has any insight into this process, I would really appreciate it so we can know what we are facing as a family! It's just me, my brother, and our grandparents (and it's hard for them to follow sometimes), so all of this is a lot to navigate.
