there are no tickets your recruit has to have someone there put who ever you have extra on there paperwork. as long as there name is written down they can go in. hope that helps you.
Oh, ok. thanks. I thought I had to find someone who wasn't going. So my daughter can ask one of the other recruits/sailors if they have an open line?
Wait, there seems to be some confusion....
This is how I understand it....have your daughter tell people in charge (RDC? Chief?) that that one more name needs to be added to her family's guest list. So when you arrive that day, that person shows their ID (all of you take your ID) and you're all checked in.
They basically don't want families of 25 people coming in, but you are certainly allowed one more for special circumstances.
I've even heard some families have had one more person at the last minute, they went anyway, and were able to talk their way in....again...ID is important.
Doesn't your paperwork for PIR have some sort of 'information number' or something on it that addresses this? (It's been two years for me...I can't remember??)
Here's an FYi post that might help shed some light on this subject ladies...

You can also read the following on the Boot Camp Moms Group in one of the featured discussions, but I'll leave it here so it's easy to find:

The question of whether there can be more than 4 guests at PIR is often asked. The Recruit will be instructed to write the names of 4 Guests they most want to attend. They are the only ones guaranteed seats! Children under the age of 12 do not count towards these 4 spots. Only one Green Parking Pass is issued per Recruit. As of 8/09 parents are given a password to download the parking pass. It will be available to you as of 11 days before PIR. Changes to the guest list cannot be made in the last week of training. For any further questions on this subject, please use the resources below:

Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL is the homeport for all Navy recruit training. If you have specific questions regarding Boot Camp, Pass-in-Review (graduation) or a Recruit, please visit http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/index.asp. If you cannot find the answer there, please phone RTC Public Affairs at 847-688-2405 or email on rtc.pao@navy.mil.

This was actually a direct request of and info provided by our N4Ms Admin and the Navy itself. Please help us pass it on to those who don't know. Thanks! Best wishes to your Recruits and enjoy the amazing PIR ceremony. :-)

jessicasmom, there is no harm in asking and others who see this will hopefully learn, just like you, what to expect and do, since you asked. I do believe there is an overflow area at RTC where guests can sit if there is no room in the Grand Hall. There are some large Training Groups coming up in Feb and March '10 with the number of Divisions in the double digits. That's potentially a LOT of graduating Recruits! They have a guest limit for a reason. All families have to make tough decisions about who goes and who stays.

Remember though, you will (hopefully) have all weekend to spend with your new Sailor (no overnights) so any extra guests can spend time with them then and see the sights of Chicago with you. PIR is incredible, but it's only a couple of hours out of the whole Liberty weekend and your Recruit can order a DVD of the ceremony for those who can't be there to see later. Hope that helps. I make a point here because about a year ago, some Moms were trying to offer ways to "get around the rules", by offering to put a guest on their Recruit's guest list for example, but the Navy and N4Ms made it clear that dong things like that was a big No No. I recently saw some still doing it behind the scenes in PMs! It's well meaning of them, but rules are rules for a reason and protocols must be followed by our Recruits and Sailors and by us. So, if you happen to see that happening in your PIR or Div Groups, please do help to pass this on! Thanks.
