Hi, I have a question, I hope someone of you have some information about this, Im catolic and we want to get married by the church BUT my fiance doesn´t have the sacrament of confirmation, do you know if in the NAVY is there an special way to make it faster?? or if he has to make it out of the NAVY as a regular mortal jejeje.... My fiance is in SUBMARINE so if he is 4 months or more out of home, I think he can´t do it in a regular way, I´ll really apreciate your help because he´s not going make it if im not telling him where he has to go....thanks ;D

Whether or not you need to both be confirmed varies by church and dioceses. Have you spoken to your priest about it? My husband and I are both Catholic and were married in the Church and they checked to make sure we were both confirmed. However, I have two friends who were recently married in other churches- neither of their husbands were confirmed. One was not allowed to have a full mass at their wedding, but were allowed to be married in the church. The other had a full mass and ceremony.
Canon law says : ""§1. If they can do so without serious inconvenience, Catholics who have not yet received the sacrament of confirmation are to receive it before being admitted to marriage. §2. It is strongly recommended that those to be married approach the sacraments of penance and the Most Holy Eucharist so that they may fruitfully receive the sacrament of marriage. " (Canon 1056). One of my husband's shipmates was excused from his church's confirmation requirement under this law because the ship was gone over 9 months last year and is doing it again this year... so the priest figured he was just lucky to get the wedding in haha. He plans to get confirmed when he's on shore duty instead.
Definitely have him talk to the Catholic Chaplain on base- I bet they can help :)
Have you spoken with your priest yet?
My son just got engaged, and his fiancee isn't a catholic. He is in CA and we (his fiancee and I)live in NY, where the wedding will be. Our first step is to talk to the priest and see what needs to be done. It will be hard to do stuff, as my son won't be home again until the wedding, so not sure how they can do all the marriage prep stuff. I am hoping he can go through the chaplain on base, and they can do it long distance.
