Smoothsailing, he entered in April of last year.  He had PIR on June 2nd.   He is an ET.Has been in San Diego since March.  He is on a Destroyer.  He is going to suspend his phone while deployed.

Bandmom, my son has been on deployment for the past 6 months, and it was not easy, but work and other family obligations helped me keep my emotions in check. My son is on a sub, so communication was very minimal. When he had a port stop, he always called or texted. Make sure to get on the ombudsman’s calling tree list. They are god sent and keep you informed.

Can you say what his job is? Or you could PM me.

How long has he been in the navy?

Thank you Smoothsailing, I didn't think it would affect me as much as it is.  My sailor is going to be, 25 so it isn't like he was living at home.  It is just that we have always talked at least once a week, and I always new where he was.  Now I feel a little lost.

I only have one suggestion for you- run out right now and get the book Be Safe, Love Mom. It is awesome and I can promise you it will help.

Ive been deployed myself but that was so long ago I don’t remember much about it. I wonder if there is a Facebook support group. This site may not have enough traffic.

Hello Wisconsin moms,  My son is gearing up for his first long deployment.  I am not ashamed to say that this Navy mom is very nervous.  My stomach has been in knots for over a week already, and he hasn't even left yet.  Any other moms out there that have had a sailor deployed, can you tell me how you did it.  It will be the communication that I am going to miss the most.Help me please.

Welcome!!  I am from Central Wisconsin.    My son is currently an E.T Stationed in San Diego.  He is also an active duty Naval Reservist.  He is loving it.

Good morning Bandmom! My daughter graduated boot camp March 30th and currently in A school in Virginia.  She's doing Reserves and we are from north central Wisconsin :)
