Hi everyone...it's been awhile since I've been on here, also.  2 weeks ago my mom and I took a road trip to Mississippi to see my son....that was during that 80 degree weekend in WI--similar temps in MS...but I got to spend some time on the beach and see the ocean! Nick is doing great. He's an EO with the SeaBees.

I wanted to wish y'all (some of Mississippi rubbed off) a very wonderful and Blessed Easter...and a fine Navy day! ~Linda

Last weekend my daughter & I flew out to see my sailor.  He is close to being done with prototype in NY & will soon be assigned a sub.  We had a nice visit, the weather was similiar to ours & so were the gas prices....  Hope everyone has a  good holiday!

Hello all, it's been awhile since I posted as well. Guess we live busy lives these days. My sister and I put together a little organization to adopt my son's ship, you wouldn't believe all the wonderful things people sent us to help out. I guess you find wonderful human beings with heart still in this world! Anyway we shipped out 19 boxes on Monday all packed to the brim with goodies for their deployment coming up. Plus when my son was home he took an extra C-bag full of stuff back with him for us so that it would save on shipping costs. Good kid! Now my next endeavor will be to send some cheese from Wisconsin, that I know he misses :)

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter! Hoppy egg hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a long time since I've posted anything, so I'll bring you up to speed.  Our son passed his pst, and then found out he was accepted into OCS.  He received his phone call for early entrance and leaves on 6/6.

Now for the fun part.  Our daughter was recently just engaged to a wonderful young man who is in the Air Force.  His brother (Army) will be in the states on 6/2.  It's very important to them to have all of the brothers in attendance.  Call it writing on the wall, they're getting married on 6/4!

My grandmother would have said that this is why they write songs about mothers; personally, I think that this is why mothers drink!

Denise & Jen, thank you!  I can not say that it has always been easy, yes, we have survived.  And we are looking forward to the years ahead.  Not sure if I mentioned our son told us a week ago that his request was approved.  Not we just hope that nothing will change between now & then; so he can come home.

Denise -yes, just east of Wausau - would be awesome to meet up! pm me and I'll give you my home email / phone.  A jet engine exploded and 11 were injured, 4 taken to hospital off of the ship - all are stable, no fatatities, did thier jobs well!  :-)

Mary - thanks - you had to be on pins & needles then, eh?  It's so hard for me to find that line between grown up mom who knows her child may be in danger, because, hello mom, he's IN THE MILITARY and the freaked out chic glued to the TV and anything navy.something to catch all info possible.  No wonder I question my sanity daily!!  ha ha -

Yes, Denise, I love the "imported", too!  :)   I'm sorry I can't take on the planning right now, i'm need deep in our ceremony for May (husband & I are renewing our vows for our 20th anniversary) & hopefully once that is done will we take a vacation to MD to visit our son.

Which by the just informed me that it looks like he MIGHT be able to make it home for May.  I will continue to try to be patient while I wait.

Prayers for ALL those military serving around the world, please keep them ALL SAFE!!!!!!!!!
