Hello Wisconsin Moms! It's been a little while since I was last on the site, but as you can imagine it has been a very busy time getting ready for our son to leave for BC and for the Thanksgiving Holiday. He left for BC yesterday and we just received our call letting us know he arrived safely. This will be a long 8 weeks, but I'm excited to see his transformation. Happy Belated Thanksgiving to everyone.

I know we aren't suppose to mention our sailor's last name, to protect them, but is it OK to use their first name?

welcome nascarnov! We've all been where you are now! you'll get through it. Getting letters in boot camp is "the best part of my day"...my son's words. Although in A-school he wasn't as thrilled about it--since he had his computer and we can talk on facebook. When you get his division number/PIR date, join the discussions for those groups as well. My son was surprised I knew more about what he was doing than he did! Would love to met you at WI meet and greet in January (the link for that is further down) Good Luck, we're all here for you.

Andysmom - Thank you so much! I appreciate the advice, and the schedule of things to come. I'm sure I'll have questions along the way. I like reading past comments. Its comforting to know how everyone feels about their sailor.

You should get his personal articles in a box soon. He should have the address in that box or a letter with the address. When you send him letters, make sure you have the ship and division on the letter. He will not be able to write you for the first few weeks. They have about 5 hours off free time on Sundays (after the second week). This is the only time he can write you. And I think it's after week 3..they will get a short phone call. And it by week 4, he can call more often. If you didn't send him a calling card, please do! Oh yah...and stamps. Best of luck. If you have any questions, just ask. Make sure you don't mention your son's last name at all on here or place his picture on your page unless it is set as private. Best of luck.

Hi everyone. My son just left for BC on the 16th. I'm glad the recruiter told me about this website! Lots of good information here. We should be getting my son's address tomorrow. I've already written 3 letters, but don't know where to send them! Thanks for starting this group of WI moms. I think I'll feel closer to all of you!

Above is the link for the meet and greet---for all WI Navy Moms. I think the discussion on that site is what PLACE to go and meet in Madison.. Anyone know Madison well?? It would be so nice to meet everyone and hear about their loved ones. Richardsmom: it was great to meet you and I hope your Thanksgiving with your SR and his buddies goes well.
