Yes, Susan; Welcome!! How long before yourr son leaves for BC (boot camp)? My son graduated BC on 9-24! And now he is in Pensacola FL for A school. Are you strapped in & buckled up? Because this will be the ride you will remember for a while!! Like Rhonda & Terri said, feel free to ask away with any questions; we are here to help. Again, Welcome & tell your son Thank You! :)

Terri, I took your advice, since I am a Wisconsin mom, even though my son is a DEP. Thanks for the invite, though I feel as though I'm reading a different language! I had no idea that there are so many young men and women in this program.

around here every band, football team, hospital auxillary and whatever group use the Entertainment book as a fundraiser. It's $35/year and is available for metropolitan areas. the ones I have left for this year are: free kids meal with an adult entree, a free baby blossom with 2 adult entrees, and a free app with purchase of 2 adult entrees. The one I used I think was $5 off a $20 purchase. If you send me a PM with your address, I'll send you the ones I have left. They expire 11/1/10.

TerriE - if you can go to Texas Roadhouse between 4pm-6pm they have 10 meals under $7.99 - thats Monday-Thursday.
Even if if we go other hours I always get the 6oz sirloin - comes with potato & salad $8.99 and my hubby gets the Roadkill which is groundbeef smothered with cheese & mushrooms comes with potato & salad $6.99 or $7.99. We usually get water to drink & even with tax its under $20.00. Plus they give you as many rolls as you want to eat & they have salted peanuts at the table.
If you shop at Mega the back of the reciepts will have coupons for a free beverage with entree order.
mom2mw - what is the coupon in the books?
thanks

Yep - I found that group - very wonderful info!! And at a fresh 18 yrs old, I will definately be reminding my SR not to take an inch of freedom and try to go a mile w/ it!!
Thanks all!

I found the Pcola group very helpful when my son went there for A school. The sailors are kept busy while waiting to class up but it is more relaxed than boot camp. Tell your sailor to stay busy and away from trouble. Some find that fewer rules and less supervision is an excuse to let loose. Remind them the Navy is watching them and how they handle a little freedom.
Congratulations to the graduates!!!
