got the phone call at 1335. I told him he needs to work on his reading skills because he stuttered when he read the script. LOL!

I'm currently waiting for my second "I'm Here" phone call. It doesn't get any easier with the second one. This will be the first time in their lives that my boys will not be with me for the Holidays. Time to break out the eggnog a little early I think. If the Mom of SR Cain is on here, I spent a few hours with my son at the recruiters' office yesterday and Jared was also there waiting for the van. What a nice young man you have raised. Be proud. (((NMH))) to all.

Sorry I've been a stranger here :) I've been really  busy getting ready to go see my one son in San Antonio, booking flights to see the other in D.C. and trying to do a three room switch in the house complete with painting and redoing floors! I don't think empty nesting is for me! Need those boys BACK now!! LOL

My prayers for our Navy Yard sailors.  So sad.

Comment by Debi on September 16, 2013 at 11:00am

Shesh...yes and no to getting easier. I knew what to expect with BC and I knew the 'script' that the RDCs use to try to motivate the sailors..so we were able to give sone #2 a heads up to the BS at BC :) Now it's hard having the 2 of them so far away. I'm used to having a house full..it's just too quiet right now! lol

My thoughts and prayes are with those in DC. My one son is in DC but not at Navy Yard..and to think I was bummed he wasn't stationed there! The Lord knew to keep him out of harms way! But my heart aches for those who were part of this sensless act!

Prayers for our Washington D.C. sailors

Hey, good idea Debi....I could go down and hang on the gates and watch the activities. Maybe catch a glimpse of him.  That's too funny  :)   It is going to be hard knowing he's so close yet so far.  You had to go thru this twice?  Funny thing is my son is a triplet!  He's the only one interested in the military though.  I suppose it gets easier the more you go through it ??

Comment by Debi on September 12, 2013 at 12:19pm

Shesh..been there..done that twice in 4 months! lol Being from Milwaukee..Great Lakes is a wee bit close as I could drive there in less than an hour and hang on the gates :) LOL   Had to go down there when son #2 was in Boot to get something from the NEX for son #1. Ohhh I almost went to the gates to hang on them! Sooooo tempting! lol

MyKidIsInNavy congrats on your kiddo being #1. I'm also a Milwaukee Mom and my first son was #1 in his class too. Now he's stationed in D.C. for 3 years. He didn't get to fill out a dream sheet...SeaBees are sent where they are needed. My second son (his twin) is in San Antonio studying to be a HMFMF and is set to graduate on 12/12 :)
