Welcome Wendy! I live near Oshkosh now but we did live in Chetek for a few years in the late 80's. Is Chetek near where you are? My son went to boot camp last August and I think the coolest thing is all the places he's been since then. Pensacola for a school, orders to Washington state, and he is on a carrier right now. Good Luck to your daughter.

Funny Rhonda, my hubby's grown kids are in Green Bay and the grandbabies too. Can't make the luncheon... too close to Sami's PIR. But hope to get to know a lot here!

Yes Jill H, I have heard from my daughter. Two letters so far. Her first letter was very brief but when she said that it wasn't as hard as she thought, but still not easy, then I knew she would do fine. She says she has passed all physical and academic tests so far and did give some general info about ships and I think she is actually enjoying boot camp. I can't wait to go to her PIR. My son is a marine and we went to his boot camp graduation in San Diego and it was awesome. So am thinking hers will be awesome too! Even though I have some experience with a child being in boot camp, is way different when it is a daughter! Hope I can find someone close to where I live to meet up with some time. I know it is gonna be a long 5 years (at least) as she is going to be a Hospital Corpsman. Don't know when the next time will be that I will have all three of my kiddos together at the same time again. Anyway, thanks for the welcome to the group. Anyone else have any cool info or stories?
