theraysmom: BHappy messaged me about this ongoing conversation...our sons PIRed together (they were in brother divisions) and also went to A School together. I don't think I can really add much to what she said...she covered it pretty thoroughly! As far as the name of the class, I don't believe I ever knew the name of the class. I just know that on the modules, there is one that was kind of tough...I think BHappy's son got through it with little problem, but my son got a bit "stuck" on it. He lost alot of time on that one module...much more than he should have...but once he got passed it and got to the others, he did fine. But as a result of that delay, BHappy's son actually was finished the class a good 2 weeks before my son was. It is a self-paced class on the computer.
My son was actually in "hold" for about 3-4 weeks after he graduated while waiting for his written orders for his duty station. At that time, the orders were "backed up" and most were waiting...it may not be that way now, I don't know. Just depends. I didn't ask him many questions...he is older (was 23/almost 24 then) and didn't want me so involved with his life anymore....fine with me! Wheeew!
Yes, you are correct. They have to make their way themselves now. I will say that my son really enjoyed A School...not the academic part so much :-) but he loved the atmosphere there. It is a big change from bootcamp for them...much better!
I'm sure your son will do fine...and he is learning!
Emma: Has your daughter started her school yet?

anks my son was with us on Friday and we were up at 2am to the airport as well my son was with with like a hour and a half as his plane was leaving a 655 am. He didn't want us to go passed security with him It was really really hard not to say we are going with you He told his sister later that it was hard for him It is almost like he doesn't want mix too much of the Navy stuff with the family stuff. This might sound crazy but this is soooo hard. All the changes and all the leaving. Does it get easier. Sorry to spill out my thoughts but this seems to be the place where people understand and have been where I am.
I know I ask a lot of questions I just don't know about so many things. I thought of another question though :) Do any of you remember if when your son graduated from boot camp if he was a grad and go or if you had time with him after graduation?
Lady Hamilton thanks for the information
Thank you ladies you have made me feel so welcome in this group By this I can tell my son has made a good choice as he will be working with your sailors.
