what are the chances that he will be able to leave for Christmas? Has anyone heard what the policy is in Meridian?

I have no idea what classing up means! Please explain!

No, they can't come home while on "hold," and that is the stinky part. They usually are assigned to odd jobs around the base...and they have to "muster up" several times a day to account for them all being present! They can't leave the base until they have their orders. Even when mine got his "verbals," his "written" took a couple of more weeks to come in. He said that there was a "backup" when he was there in orders...caused by the one in charge being on vacation, they were told....so maybe what he went through is unusual. Sometimes they are "on hold" when they first arrive....my son was classed up within 10 days so his hold was just at the end.

Hopefully yours will be done before Christmas....and able to take his leave then to be home with you all before heading to Groton. When did he class up?

Diannep~ yes, I ment YN. :) Where was your son while he was on hold? Are they allowed to come home? I am wondering about Christmas. My son goes to Groton for sub school after this.

ProudMom: Did you mean YN rather than YM "A" School? My son went through yeoman school in Meridian. I believe maximum time for it is 37 days, but most finish before that. He classed up rather quickly but was on hold for almost a month awaiting orders after he graduated. It is self-paced...they move through the "mods" at their own pace. Good luck to him!

Hi group! My son is currently in Meridian at YM A school. He seems to like it. Can anyone give me some insight as to what he is in for?
