Good luck, Corie! My son is really enjoying it.

Jason'sProudMom: Is that Jason in the front? Good for him! His additional "rescue swimmer" duties are serving him well!

...or a sore shoulder and ear infections! I feel your pain, Jason'sProudMom! My son saw baseball scholarships go right out the door...oh well....all of my long-term swimming friends who swam as long as I did are having shoulder issues in their "old age" (50's!). ISome have had surgery...all mainly freestylers.I have had a couple of shoulder issues (very painful)...but not sure swimming related. But like you said, other than that....swimming is a great all-around safe sport!

Yes, Jason's Mom: I remember writing back and forth with you before. Because I was a competitive swimmer myself for 10 years...so I know the advantages of being a swimmer...including the shiny blonde hair from the chlorine! :-) And I agree with the less stress watching swimming than football....I wish my older son had stuck with his swimming (3 yrs) .... because he tore his ACL in football and missed his CRUCIAL jr yr baseball season (his pride and joy sport). Oh well....I TRIED to get both of my boys to follow in my footsteps! Didn't work....but they are accomplished swimmers from the years that they did swim! My Navy son said that when he did the swim part of bc, the comment he got when he got out was: Who do you think you are, (name), Michael Phelps? HA!

Congrats to Jason! I could tell by his form that he is an excellent breaststroker....my how the stroke has changed since I swam....back in the 17th centruy! HA!

Oh, yes, Cyndi....she'll get the 2 week leave. But she may be in "hold" first! They don't tell you THAT part.

YN school is maximum of 37 days, according to my son (that's M-F days). It is self-paced so most finish earlier than that. Most are out of there within 2 months of arriving...unless they are in hold afterwards like my son's group was...he waited almost a month after graduating before he could start his leave. NOT FUN!
