Son flying out for Yokosuka on July 4th to join the USS Shiloh, Any tips? He is totally excited and I am totally sad. Wish he would have gotten stationed a little closer for his first command. Oh well monkey see monkey do. I am sure he is going to have a great time. I know I did when I went all the way to Scotland for my first command.

I sent my bf package last Friday and it came back I accidentally put his wrong unit number and wrote the address wrong but it was also asking for a 4 digit number after the zip which eas not given to me I need some help please

That's what he told me the address he gave me goes to where ever he is

When i sent the guitar, it took 1 week to get to Calinfornia, then sat there for 4 weeks.  I signed up on USPS to have email alerts sent to me.  Then about 4-5 weeks later, i got an email and it was at the post office in Japan!   So the email tracker is a good idea!

Comment by Crystals31 on May 24, 2013 at 12:45pm
Well I hope he gets it soon cause he is about to go on deployment soon so I hope it gets there before he leaves

Crystals31 - unfortunately the tracking is only to the Navy distribution center in California.  Once the Navy takes possession of the package - they get it to Japan on Navy time.  The post office isn't responsible for it after it gets to California.  Some of them get there in 2 weeks and sometimes it takes a lot longer.  Your bf will be glad to have something from you whenever he gets it!

I just sent my bf a care package today it was very easy I did priority it only cost me like $15 to send and they say it could get there in about 7-10 days I'm tracking the package on line so I know when he will get it

katlanta,

lol, my dad is doing that as we speak.

purplegiraffe69,

she was home (NC) up until this past saturday then flew out to CA to surprise her bf (who is home on leave and won't be in yokosuka when she gets there) so she didn't have to wait.  she flew into seattle last night and out this morning.

the flat rate box you are talking about is the large flat rate and the cost to an APO/FPO address is $14.95.  sent alot of those when my other daughter was on the bush, now it's time to start again.

you can go on the USPS website and order a "military kit" for free that has 10 (i think) boxes, tape and i believe custom forms.  you can also fill out the custom forms online at the USPS website, just make sure you click on the one for APO/FPO
