update on my mailing of the guitar to Japan:

I found a specific guitar box, mailed standard post ($40) it took 6 weeks to get there.   My other choice was priority for $65.  I guess I should of chosen that, maybe it would of gotten there in a few weeks instead of 6.  But, at least he got it!!!      Also they have a specific "FPO/APO" box i think its $17 and you can fill it as much as you can.  the box is free to pick up, just the $17 to mail it.

duhuh58,  good luck to her. My son had to go to seattle on a sat, and flights don't leave until Tuesday or Wednesday, so he was stuck in a hotel in seattle for like 4 days!!

I, too had mail returned by the USPS, and of course no reason, stated.

I ask around including the Ombudsman for the ship and all said the zip must be the zip-plus 4.    I've been told for my son's ship it's.

rate/rank last name, first

dept/div.

ship name (hull #)

FPO, AP  zipxx-XXXX

what ship is yours on?  maybe someone else can help with the full zip for you.

When I send packages to my son I have to put the deck and division that he is on the ship. I also put his rate before his last name.

Hi Elaine L. I have a son on the Antietam. I have sent you a PM. :-)

Comment by Elane on May 12, 2013 at 2:50pm

looking for "Antietam" moms on this group site, would love to communicate privately, so maybe I can get a clue about what is happening on/with the ship. My son is very non-communicative about everything, including how's he doing off or on the ship.

My son will be there very soon. He is so excited to be there. He is an IC in the GW

I will, what is your sons name? My son is Geoff Cato. So when you say they will be going out soon you mean as in a deployment soon? That will be good for him, lol.
