Mikes mom Kalatnta is right email is best if he is out and about. But if he is not we both have smart phones and use the app Viber. You can text and call for free. We only called a couple times as there is lag time. But the texting is great. If you don't have a smart phone there is a app called textfree he can load and text cell any number for free. But sometimes it also has some lag time. Hope that helps. Plus sometimes they get busy and forget to call.

Ok Yoko moms......how do you talk to your sailor? So far he's managed to get one text through. Tonight he called somehow, but the connection was horrible and then disconnected. I have Skype and Voxer, Talkatone and Magic Jack now attempting to reach him. No results. Very frustrating. Anybody got a good, working way?

I like that idea.

Naah, we've had several treeless years since our son left home. He's an only and no other family in the area. It just takes too much energy to do it with only the two of us to appreciate. Last year instead of a big meal at home, we delivered to a homeless shelter and just had a quiet evening of movies.

I thought I was the only one that didn't put a tree up in the last few years......

My mom and I will be taking the trip to Japan very very soon. I cannot wait to hug my sailor.  He's on the Cowpens.  We probably won't be having turkey for Thanksgiving, but being able to spend it with him is going to be amazing.  I have visions of a meal like the one at the end of Christmas Story - with the bird with the head still on.  Wish me luck!

Awesome Rosiemo.  One of my twins is on the Fitz and he will be home for 10 days in Dec.  His ticket that he bought was $1336 so he must really want to come home.  His twin brother is on the Shiloh also in Yokosuka and said he got leave in January.  We haven't seen them in a year and a half so this will be very exciting!  I guess I will be putting a Christmas tree up (haven't done it in 2 years since they left).
