Doggone I thought I has posted but it didn't work. If this is duplicate, sorry!
Care packages are ok? They don't muck up the system? Mine never asks for things (his sister would)--what to send? They're out to sea for however long will they get them at sea or at base? I have so many questions... pls keep posting folks, train me! I can ask my church to send to our ship, but I don't want to stop their relief efforts to the others. advice?
Blondie, thankyou for your daughter and her work! Glad to know that she and others are doing such a great job!
Just read on the 7th Fleet site. USS RR crew gathering their own personal items to donate to the Japanese people. No words can express the selflessness of that action. How humbling.
Alright Blondie! The prayers are spreading through our church as well! God is good. I had so selfishly not thought of the supplies for my son. I think he is out right now but has a place off base and I too will get a package. I will tell our church members as at Christmas they sent his team a quantity of boxes and they loved them. I feel convicted of complacency (spelling).
Hi,
I am new to this group. I have a granddaughter that just got transfered to Yokosuka. She is just out of corpsman training in GL. she arrived about a week ago and is having some difficulty checking in.She told me today that she may be home soon. She was told to pack an evacuation bag and be ready to evacuate. Her husband is in Okinawa. he is also just out of corpseman school. They are both assigned to labor and delivery. Does any body have any more information on evacuation? thanks
betsy and rosiemo and others
when I hear (assuming I'll get the 2 line email typical of him) I'll let you know...will try messages or this as last resort
remember they are well trained and go together, and the ship goes with other ships. they are family now and for each other. this will cement that even more.
a story: my son brought 4 of his company home on leave once. it was like having quadruplets. they respected their own beds/showers, but the rest of the time they were in sync. if one got up early, he would wait for the others to go work out, and to eat. they did everything together, laughing and enjoying ribbing one another as we watched bewildered at our son x4. there is a reason for this--they depend on one another for work and for safety.
on up the line, the navy will take care of its own, even as they help out in the world.
