Thanks Susie, I would definitely recommend taking advantage of Gabe's being there as the PERFECT excuse to visit. My daughter also has 2 phones. The 1st one she got there allowed her unlimited texting to the U.S. A few months later soft bank offered their $70.00 a month for unlimited calls to the U.S. so she got another phone with that plan. I think she loads it up with skype minutes when she is in various ports and uses those skype minutes to call us from around the world.

Jane......I never thought of that!!! Good idea. I have never met him before, only chatted on skype when they were in Singapore. He has impressed the HECK out of me so far. He treats my daughter better than any previous bf, and he has covered EVERY detail of this trip, just to surprise her for her birthday. But you are SO right, the trip with him would give me a one on one opportunity to get to know him better.

Darn Kathleen, we will be passing each other. It would be SO awesome to meet some other Navy Mom's while I'm there. Keeping my fingers crossed, and I have a feeling that I may just get to meet some during the Family and Friends cruise :-) Only wish I could be there a little longer, but maybe things will work out for a longer visit this spring.

Okay ladies......Kelcie's boyfriend has graciously offered to come to Tokyo to escort me back to Yoko, so that I don't have to try to do it on my own. However.....I'm a pretty resourceful old bird, and I kinda think I can make it on my own, without him having to spend the time for the two way trip. Has anybody done this before? Am I nuts to try it on my own? I'm thinking either bus or train. Let me know your thoughts and experiences please :-)

That's right.....you ladies will get to be there at the same time as Molly!! How fun would that be??? She is such an awesome lady!!

Hi Jane.....she better not be, or I'll ring her neck!!! :-) :-) Kids aren't supposed to "snoop".....that's us parents job. ha ha ha HOW FUN, to get to spend Christmas in Japan with your sailor!
Blondie, I THINK i'll probably take the train from Tokyo to Yoko, but Kelcie's boyfriend has booked me on the shuttle to go back TO Toyko. I get the impression that if I waited for it FROM Tokyo, I would get to base pretty late. He has taken care of my base pass, so don't know exactly what kind it is.....sorry, not much help. I will DEFINITELY take lots of notes and pass the info on to you all. Won't be doing much of the "tourist" stuff this visit, it's just to short of a time frame. The biggie will be the Friends and Family Cruise. BF has arranged for her to have 3 days of liberty while I am there, without her knowing why.

Hi Blondie, I leave San Francisco on the 3rd of next month, arrive in Tokyo on the 4th. Will spend that night in Tokyo, regroup, then head for Yokosuka the next day. I am getting SO excited, but keeping my lip zipped with her is getting harder and harder, but I'll manage, just to see the look on her face!!!

Well ladies, my plans to visit Yokosuka, and surprise my sailorette when i show up for the Family and Friends cruise are all set! PLUS, I get to spend her birthday with her. Her boyfriend is wonderful, and has set everything up as part of his birthday present to her. He doesn't know it of course, but I am also reaping the rewards of his thoughtfullness. This is one happy mom!!!

Good Evening.... My son has called three times since he arrived in Japan. He seems to be doing well on the USS Shiloh. He's met the CO and XO and had a really nice conversation with the Captain. All seems to be going very well. He was able to get a cell phone with an international calling plan so he's able to stay in tough via phone and internet. Since I hear from him frequently I'm doing pretty good myself. Hope all well with everyone's Sailors.

Oh my gosh Blondie.....what an "adventure", I'm sure that is in retrospect :-) She HAD to be scared when it was actually happening!! Gotta agree with Blondie Kathy, props to the guys for trying.
