Jane....I just went to my FB page, and was gonna hop on here and tell you about the pic's, but you beat me to it :>) What type of vessel is the McCampbell, and how many are aboard? I think I have that info somewhere, but it's buried.

Jane, was your daughter on the McCampbell last year also? It doesn't seem like it would be to hard to include pictures taken on the smaller vessels if they are all together when they are out to sea anyway.

Okay, it sounds to me like somebody needs to get on both the McCampbell and McCain's case!! Someone needs to issue them a challenge, and try to "shame" them into competing with the GW for a facebook page complete with pictures and all. They might not realize how WONDERFUL it is for us GW moms, but I bet they would take the "bait" of a good challenge!! Mom's, lets put our collective heads together and get these other vessel's Mom's the benefit's that us GW mom's have. Come one.....come all, lets share any ideas we have that might help make this happen for them!!

Jane....is your daughter on the GW? Mine is, and that "group" of moms is VERY active. What ever vessel your daughter is on probably has it's own group. It's my "lifeline", along with the "facebook" page that the GW post to daily, complete with pictures. It's great. You might want to try those two avenues to feel a little moer "connected".

Blondie...I think that the 2 hour rule applies to all airlines, but not 100% sure. We dealt with 2 different airlines, and benefited by the rule on both of them. My daughter was supposed to get married in Hawaii, but caught the jerk with someone else 3 months before the wedding. We had bought the tickets for him and his parents also, and were able to cancel them all without having any penalty, and got full refunds. I knew about the rule, so just waited it out a month or so to see if they changed the flight times, and sure enough....they did :>)

Yes, we were very lucky, otherwise we would have "eaten" 3 tickets. Once I found out about the +2 hour change law, I just sat back for a while, and sure enough, as soon as they changed the flight time for a 2nd time, and it totalled more than 2 hours, I called and said that the flight was no longer "doable". Got my refunds with no problem.

Sharon, you are right, Southwest only flies continental US, I thought that maybe if you had to fly from some place back east, it might be cheaper to get to Sac via Southwest, then book to Narita from there. Didn't know you were right here anyway.
Re: flight insurance, from our experience, most airlines charge a 150.00 fee to change your flights after they are booked. If the cost of flight ins. is more than that, I'd say skip it. You have up to a year to use your ticket credit (minus the 150.00). Last year we had to cancel flights to Hawaii, but we lucked out, and the airline itself changed the flight by over 2 hours, so we got a FULL refund! Didn't even have to accept ticket credits. Luckily someone told me about that law.
