Yeah, I love Facebook! Heard from my sailor on the chat and he says he loves Japan so far. He's met some people that are gonna be on the ship with him, which will be back soon and he'll be going to many other ports soon. Thats vague enough isn't it? Don't want to say anything I shouldn't. He is pretty excited about that. And told me to buy some calling cards myself, so when he gets a phone I can call him for 3 or 7 cents a minute. He says he got a calling card for free (its for 20 minutes) and he'll call when he gets time. (ha ha, not holding my breath - he'll probably call one of his girlfriends...)

Kathy, that is good to know. I will keep it in mind also. Have not heard if my son made it or not yet. I'm sure he did, but can't find a place with wi-fi, or he would have contacted me on FB. He left Thursday at 6 a.m. for SD, and to Tokyo from there at noon. And they are a day ahead, right?

My son just got an apartment in Yokosuka so that is why I am searching for the zip code. I want to Fed Ex him a box. I can find country code or city code but not the zip code.

Does anyone know the zip code in Yokosuka?

Yes, Connie I am back home now. It was a lot of fun traveling with my husband but seeing our son was the best for both of us. The Yokosuka base is just so big! They have base taxis to get you from one end to the other. The NEX is great and the Chili's has a great ocean (or bay) view. There are two malls in the town, too. It was a zoo when we were on base because it was Friendship Weekend. All the locals love to come on base and especially buy baseball hats or any tee shirt that has American sayings on them. Everyone was touring the USS Blue Ridge. All in all, it was a fun time.

Earthquake was centered out in the ocean again and heard varying size 6.7-6.9. No injuries reported.

My son just called-another earthquake in Yokosuka. Don't know what size it was. It was around 5:15 AM Japanese time.

Was on base this weekend and it is Friendship Weekend. The base is open to visitors and they can tour the USS Blue Ridge, buy tee shirts, hats, and walk around the base (designated areas). It is a great building tool for the military to the Japanese people. The Japanese love American tee shirts and hats so that area did a brisk business. Also, ate at Chili's and it was really good. Great views of the ocean, too.
