That's awful Judy r. I thought there was supposed to be honor in the military. So sad a brother would do that to a brother.

Hello everybody how are you doing I had a question for you..... My wife and I are up to choose orders and we are seriously considering Yokosuka. my question is because the ships in port are all forward deployed or on rotation does this mean she will be underway longer and more frequently? She has heard from other sailors that they leave for months at a time and only come home for a week or two here and there? This will be our second duty section and we are bout to renlist later this year

Just an FYI, my sons bike was stolen from wherever they are required to lock them up. It was one of five stolen. He's hoping that when he checks with the MA's that it is in impound. He is heart broken because he spent a good deal of money on it right before he shipped to Yokosuka in Sept.

My son is a CS on USS Blue Ridge.  He been there since 11/2014.  Before he was sailor he was an art student, graphic artist.  He loves Japan.  He loves going on personal trekking using googlemaps.com as well with other sailors.  He always posting his trips online. His motto, he wants the viewer to see what he sees.  So if your son or daughter is interested and knowing or seeing Japan cities.  I suggest you seek him out.

Hi, my son will be on the USS Shiloh. Anyone else have a sailor on this ship? He's excited about going to Japan but a little nervous.

Susan elizabeth - if your on Facebook see if your sailor's ship has a FB Page. The USS Antietam does and it is great to get the FB updates that they post - lets me know what my sailor is experiencing when they are deploy. This is great because my sailor is not great with communicating and as the postings are public we can talk about them.

Thanks, I will ask him about it!

Usually they do not go to Tokyo on their first weekend there.  There are a bunch of classes they are required to attend before they are supposed to go off base. Things like culture, forbidden areas they are not supposed to go to for their safety, and so they don't get taken advantage of.

 Just an FYI
