Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Any questions regarding DEP, boot camp, A school or in between can hopefully be answered here. I myself was in boot camp from June-August of '09 and am now stationed in Norfolk, Va. This site helped my mother so much, its my time to return the favor.

Comment by Who on September 18, 2010 at 8:11pm: Honor guard bears the American flag along with the US navy flag and present it during the national anthem. Everyone gets picked for 900 divisions differently. Could be PT times, asvab scored, prior musical experience...so forth

Comment by nicole~a sailors girl(: on September 18, 2010 at 8:09pm: The Honor's people(Not sure if it's the same as honor guard) Are recognized, and shake hands with the admiral and all of them. Their names are read, and have a special place for those families to sit as well.

Stay positive, chances are, all will work out, they try to make sure it does, it's a great experience, they don't want people missing it.
