Any questions regarding DEP, boot camp, A school or in between can hopefully be answered here. I myself was in boot camp from June-August of '09 and am now stationed in Norfolk, Va. This site helped my mother so much, its my time to return the favor.

well, there were 10 in my boyfriends, all extras were let in, if there's less than 15 divisions, you SHOULD be okay for extras..hope this helps.

Nope, i'm positive(: I think that would scare my boyfriend a bit if I was though! LOL, i've just been through it, and i'm enlisting in a year or so, so I just relay what I learn, go through, or am told(:

Alright, here's the thing about extras, I was an extra in my bf's PIR. Do you know how many are graduating, how many divisions? Go to bootcamp.navy.mil/ (you have to use google chrome, or mozilla to see it) go to "families" then "graduations" it will pull a side bar, click "upcoming graduations" go to that, find your date and it will tell you how many divisions. also, 10 days before your PIR, you can go print gate passes, i suggest printing a few.
Okay, so extras, I WAS an extra, No, they do NOT have to be named off by your sailor, They DO need proper ID, just like you, and they MUST walk in with you so they can be identified as one of your extras. Kids 12 and under don't count as for the alotted 4, but they still need a social security card, state ID(get it at the DMV) or a birth certificate. As far as adult extras, they need ID. Just have them walk in with you, and go through security with you, they should be able to get right in. However, It upsets people a little if you bring like, 10,11,12 people, try and keep it down around to 6,7 adults, especially if you have a large amount of graduating DIV'S, my boyfriends had 10, and everyone was seated fine, still crowded, but fine. You just don't want to have so many people in your group that someone elses 1, or 2 extras can't get in...make sense?

yes i know but she can't wait around because of her bad back so she's just staying back at the hotel :( it stinks but oh well...

Sailorgirl, there will be plenty of seating. Everyone should have no problem getting in
Comment by alessandrabeason on September 18, 2010 at 12:14pm
i don't know all he said was that she'd have to stay at the hotel and it really made me mad that he waited until a week and a half before PIR to do this. i'm not happy at all... so she said even if he's able to get her in shes not bothering now. i think she's a little hurt and disappointed. but again he didn't even offer that so whatever.

but can't your mom get in too -- like on stand by? I am wondering if the sailor has to give the names of the stand by folk. It makes sense, otherwise some strange attacker could get in and wreck havoc . . . I was hoping to surprise my little one by having the whole family show up . . . I am just concerned that they might not let them in, if she doesn't "name" them. Who - do you have thoughts??

got a letter finally today with some bad and good news!! after we have made plans he took my mom off the list for PIR and put his uncle on so i'm a little upset to say the least and my mom's a bit disappointed. but he's earned some medals and is doing well :)
