Any questions regarding DEP, boot camp, A school or in between can hopefully be answered here. I myself was in boot camp from June-August of '09 and am now stationed in Norfolk, Va. This site helped my mother so much, its my time to return the favor.

Pammie, I am very happy with my decision. There are some times when i have a few questions, maybe one or two doubts. But the Navy has more options than i ever imagined, it just takes a little research beyond what even the recruiter tells you. There are many rates that seem to always be closed or open (easy advancement), The navy publishes this list 2 times a year. its called the CREO (Career Reenlistment Objectives) each rate is listed with a 1, 2, or 3. 1 is a rate thats considered "open" and easy to advance. So if someone is in a 3 for example, it would be very easy for them to crossrate into a 2 or 1 category.
I hope this helped.

Who are you doing what you love right now? I hope so. So this is my question why have a back up contract if when the time comes that you are ready to fall back on the other contract there no jobs there? I mean why even have that back up contract? I am hopeful that something else will come along that wasn't even thought about at the time the contracts were signed. At some point do everyone find a job? Is everything in the aviation field always filled up? Like air traffic control? Just wondering. Thanks for anything you can share. I am still very proud my SR went Navy. Seems like a good fit.

well really, there are so many options. if you're interested in piloting, the only way to go is officer. as far as enlisted, there are numerous jobs in aviation. take the time to research, and be willing to wait for the job you want when it comes time to sign your name on that paper

Yeah, kinda figured. Everything has it's ups & downs. I honestly am really excited for it though. Just the minor issue of not knowing what I want to do...Navy Diver..or Flight Operations..or Piloting...I like them all...ALOT. Looked into all of them. Taking me Pre ASVAB soon, guess I'll wait to see what it brings up!

I've gotten alot better, and I think within a year I should be easily able to run 1.5 for the PFA in the alotted time, but i'm pushing to be able to run 2 miles easy. Just to be ahead.
I just have an issue with breathing in through my mouth rather than nose, and it begins to wind me alot. Not athsmatic or anything, just short of breath! it's nice hearing it from a female perspective though. Rather than my boyfriends who says "It was easy." "No big deal" It's like, c'mon, stop trying to act like a man, how was it REALLLLY?! Lol.

its different for every person in every divsion, but they dont like walkers too much. while doing the PFA (physical fitness assessment) they'll yell at you to keep running. if its a serious situation though, they realize that and will get you help if need be.
its better to start running and timing yourself on your own time, rather than in boot camp on their time

Another question- what happened if like..say you were running..and get to short of breath to where you can't keep going at that time..what do you do/what do they do?
