Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Any questions regarding DEP, boot camp, A school or in between can hopefully be answered here. I myself was in boot camp from June-August of '09 and am now stationed in Norfolk, Va. This site helped my mother so much, its my time to return the favor.

Something to keep in mind for 'welcome home' banners - A lot of people use http://www.buildasign.com/troops. They only charge for shipping but be careful, starts at $12.55 for eight-week delivery, goes up to $27 for one-week delivery so order early! You design your own and can upload more than one image. Or make your own :)

ckw, my experience is that IAs are usually sent overseas where the need is greatest. You can research 'individual augmentee' info here: http://www.ia.navy.mil
This is from the Introduction page:
"Most IAs are concentrated in the 20-nation U.S. Central Command region, which includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Many are also serving in the 53-nation U.S. Africa Command, particularly in the Horn of Africa area. The rest are serving elsewhere in the world."
