This is my sons first time out. I'm a little nervous.

Thank you so much Caroline! I understand. Life is so busy. We just do what we have to do. If missing the chat is the worst thing that happens to me then I'm ok. Lol!

Good morning pjay, I'm not sure about the chat thing.  Michalene should be able to answer that one 'though.  I should have thought about Wednesday church!  We were just trying to find a day and time that wasn't the weekend and where I was less likely to be working a 12 hour shift lol.  I flat-out forgot about Wednesday church services :( This is new to everyone, so maybe we will find that another night works better for more people.

The address is:

RATE/RANK LAST NAME, FIRST NAME & MIDDLE INITIAL

USS SIMPSON FFG-56
FPO, AA 34093-1510

All that being said, Michalene is the real source for information and she is awesome!  I don't know how she does it.

Caroline, I have church on Wednesday night so I won't be able to participate in the chat. Will I be able to log in and see what was discussed?

Also, where do I find the address to send care packages?

Thank you for any info!

Sorry to keep dipping in and out lol, I just finished a long/treacherous run of shifts at the hospital and now I'm off a few days - yippee!!

We seem to have settled on Wednesday evenings at 7p EST for the Moms Chat.  Michalene will start advertising it soon and she's given us an icon to log on with.  I really hope I understand what she means for us to do - techno-wise - it sounds simple, but I can screw anything up and computers don't like me!

I understand "weepy".  It does get a tiny bit easier with the second deployment and because they are older/in the Navy longer, but I'm still fairly new myself and he's still my baby.  I'm glad we have this and the chat to share our journey with.  I want to add 'though, that N4M is NOT private, so be careful.  This is not an OPSEC warning - we all know about that - but anyone can read what we say, they only have to join to comment.  Don't write anything that can be easily connected to your sailor that might embarrass one of you later lol.  I googled the Simpson once a few months ago - can't remember what I was looking for - and it led me directly to a comment I made about my son, using his first name.  It wasn't anything he would hate, but basically if someone typed "USS Simpson + Spencer" that comment would pop up on the first line (except I went back and deleted it) and from there, the computer automatically puts up all of the remote and not so remote connections between the person using it and a couple of random facts and there's a whole list of stuff that leaves no mystery about who he is (last name gratuitously added in...).  That won't happen on the fb support page at least.

Hi, friends! This is my sons first time out. Today is a week, and finally Im not as "weepy" as I was. Between spotty emails, friends being supportive and care packages packed and mailed, I think we'll be okay.
Good to know there's so much support. Have a great day! (from NY)

I would be interested in the Simpson Mom's Chat. I work so if it is something that will be before 4:30 p.m. I wouldn't be able to participate.

@Patricia T.---the homecoming will definitely be a more joyful event!

The hubs and I made it to the Simpson's homecoming from their last deployment. Such a wonderful time!  I would imagine the send off (we didn't make it for that one) would seem so sad in comparison!

Caroline, I'd be interested in the mom's chat.  Don't know anything about it tho.

Hi everyone

I've been seeing these little email alerts that there's activity here but I've been overwhelmed lately lol.  It's nice to see some activity on here!  Another Mom and I are working with Michalene right now to figure out the nuts and bolts of the weekly "Simpson Mom's Chat" that she suggested.  Are any of y'all going to be interested?

My son - like Pam's - is also on his second deployment with the Simpson.  We are from Oriental, NC.  I took time off for his pre-deployment leave, so I was on extra hours when they left and I missed the send-off :(
