Hello ladies thoought I would update some wondering how info. Talked to sons recruiter today, asked about getting in Cardinal unit. He told me they choose a handful from the area that is willing to go. Didn't imply anything special about being chosen. Though not sure about that, my son wasn't scheduled until Nov. there were people leveing in sept. Hope everyone is having a good day.
I wish I could go to a meet and greet to meet and greet all of you, but we will be travelling all night. So, no meet and greet and no motel the night before PIR. We are staying at America's Best in Waukegan on 10/5, but only for a few hours, because I want to be at the airport the following morning. As for a ribbon: I plan to buy some white ribbon, write on it, MAYBE draw a cardinal on it, and use my "My son is in the Navy" pin to clip it on to ...to... whatever am I going to wear!? His favorite color is green, but it doesn't go with red cardinal. And did I read that they're going to be in their dress blues??
PNCM - which meet and greet are your attending? By the way, which meet and greet are mothers from Cardinal Company going to attend. I much rather meet all of you because I feel the closest to you all.
You know, the idea of writing letters to SRs who don't get many (or enough!) got me to thinking.
It has only recently occured to me that there may be some families who, for whatever reason, will be unable to attend PIR. Now I realize that for most of us that is unthinkable, but you know it is possible.
My heart just breaks to think that one of "our kids" would make it through RDC, become a sailor, go through PIR, then have no one to celebrate with him and to celebrate HIM.
So I've told my SR to feel free to invite any of those "orphans" to lunch with our family.
Don't give me a lot of credit here--I want my SR to myself as much as any of you do.
But here's the thing: We're ALL Navy now. Your kid is my kid. (and sorry for my still using "kid"--my SR just graduated high school 3 months ago)
Every military person I know tells me you make friends fast because you have to.
No pressure on any of you --just letting you know my plan.
thanks for listening.....
You can private message me the names.
Huggy - do you want to share this list, I would like to write to some of the guys who don't get letters.
got a letter today, Short and sweet doing good, went to medic got cogh syrup, Here is list of guys who would take letters. Bye, But I got one can't complain.
Welcome Caryatid!! Glad to have you join us!
Received a letter today from Danny but he refuses to fill out the questionnaire. He said that he will see me in 3 weeks and will answer all of my questions then.
On a sad note, his friend who I thought was his gf got a letter too and I don't believe she will be going to graduation now. I won't go into the details, but when I called to ask why, she was really upset. Now I feel bad that I called her, but I was concerned that he wasn't able to get her a ticket. But that wasn't the problem. I feel bad for her, I truly thought they were back together.
