Does anyone know how to get an address of my son's ship in A school? I am looking for something like they showed us for their bootcamp addresses.

I have lots of questions!!! This is my first time doing this and my ex-husband my Sailors dad is keeping all info from me. Well not really him but his wife. All the information was sent to HIS house and not mine so I'm so frustrated and upset and dont know what to do? Should I call my sons recruiter and ask? I don't want to wait till the last minute to do what I have to! I NEVER missed a football game or a wrestling match in my sons 18 years. NO WAY will I miss this!

Hello! I'm new to the group. My husband is currently on his 3rd deployment and still stationed in San Diego, but we recently bought a home in the Great Lakes, IL area. (Suburbs of Chicago). My husband will be transferring to Great Lakes this winter! The kids and I decided to go on ahead and move up here though. I'm looking to make new friends in the area.

Hi Wendy3650, its a pretty exciting experience for the Families bring plenty of tissues. If you have not booked a room yet you can try Navy Lodge Reservations(800)628-9466 Local#(847)689-1485 they are the closest hotel to the base not even 10 minutes and its clean safe family oriented and they even give you what they call Breakfast to go which its convinient when you have to go so early in the morning for PIR.Just make sure you mention that your son is graduating PIR so that you can get the discount back in Oct. 2010 it was $65 a night. They are also close to the Nex where with your Sailor you can get some food Its like a mini market most rooms have a small fridge and microwave.Make sure you have comfortable shoes depending on where you get to park in base you might have a walk dress could be NICE CASUAL thats what we did since it was Oct we did wear pantsuits. Make sure you print out your Parking Ticket before you leave home and make sure you bring extra copies with you because youll always needed for going in and out of base after PIR to drop your Sailor (thank God I had extras because I misplaced my first one) Very important make sure each person who is going to go to PIR has their Goverment ID/like a license or passport or they wont be allowed in.Youll see the DIV#s when you walk into the area it looks like a big hanger room with bleachers try to sit in front of your DIV Section in the middle section of bleachers we sat to low fotos not great but if u have a good camera they say its better a bit higher.Once PIR Ceremony is over Youll be able to give your son ONE BIG HUG Enjoy!!!They will be wearing their white uniform probably just have with you a small white towel with you for when you go out with him he can sit on so he keeps that Uniform clean. If you want you can bring his cell, computer and one set of his favorite clothes in case only inside of hotel room if he wants to be comfortable. There is alot of restaurants in the area or close by if you have a car with you just ask hotel staff.About 30 minutes or so there is a big mall Gurnee Mall and a Movie Theater and a Restaurant Rainforest pretty cool.It depends on your Sailors status if you get to see him after PIR if he stays at GL you should if he is GRADnGO thats different.
My son is done at Great Lakes with ASchool and will be going to his New Base soon in Sept. Good Luck and Enjoy Let me know how it went.Navy25
