Hi everyone, new to this whole thing.I do not know what all the abbreviation mean SR I am guessing stands for Sailor Recruit. But that if far as I got, is there a list somewhere? or just experience?

Tamara, you are very welcome.

Thank you for the advice. I will go to the Post Office tomorrow to see how many envelopes I can include with my letter.  I don't want to get him into any trouble.  He just got his wisdom teeth pulled and I'm sure he's not very comfortable.  Last thing he needs is to have problems over a box of envelopes.

Comment by lemonelephant on June 20, 2014 at 5:44pm

Tamara, your idea of including a couple of envelopes in each letter is a good one. You can have a postal clerk weigh your letter and envelopes and find out how many you can include.

Comment by lemonelephant on June 20, 2014 at 5:42pm

Tamara, he can get envelopes, but yes, he is permitted to receive additional writing materials. Send them in a large envelope and write "Writing materials" in the outside corner, which may help since the RMPO and RDC will already know what to expect.

My recruit just sent me a letter asking me to send him a box of envelopes.  Am I allowed to do that?  Everything I've read says not to send anything that requires extra postage.  I guess I could send him 2 envelopes with the letters I write every day.  Any thoughts?

Peter's Mom, yes, you can send post cards, but DON'T. They are read aloud and sometimes other things happen as well. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit for more info.
