I got four letters!! Well, one was addressed to me, one to his little brother, and two to the family! His spirits are high - he is having a good experience. The weather doesn't bother him since he's used to the cold and snow. He said they bundle up pretty good when they go outside. I've already read them several times each!
My daughter arrived at GL Wednesday night. I already have four letters to mail. Waiting for her address is going to be so hard! I'd love some information about the questionnaires I've seen mentioned. Can anyone tell me where I can find them??
morning mommas....celebrate today...
thats great Lorraine!! it was such a great experience seeing my son at his PIR...the best thing for me has been meeting such wonderful women from every corner of our country...oh and learning new things everyday...and getting used to saying my son is in the Navy without crying...
Thanks spomss. My SR got to GL on 1/23. He did call last weekend, but I wasn't home. He spoke with my husband, and he sounded really good. He's loving this experience, and I felt really good knowing that this is where he needs to be. His countdown is 35 days. Really looking forward to his PIR.
but...you can start to write and have them ready when you do get that address....keep letters positive and encouraging and it can be hard to do-took me at least 4 times when writing to get one good letter...so I started to keep a journal of what I was feeling-made it easier to write to him without being sad about missing him...I found the discussion on the boot camp group that had the 'what are they doing today' so I could write him things about what he was doing-like when he got his smurf suit, and when he could get out of his smurf suit...
I did write him a letter from the dog about the day we got the box at home...that was a fun one to write...
remember to keep her posted on what she likes too-and you can print cartoons and inspirational quotes for her to have close by...
hope that helps nicomeau...
Hi new mommas...you can write after you get the official form letter. which can take up to two weeks to fill divisions, sometimes they girls take longer b/c there's fewer of them to fill the divisions...rarely there's an all female divisions, but has happened, most will be in an integrated division with males and females and a matching division to be their brother division for training with....my sailor was in an integrated divisions and many of them have stayed friends with their training in A school...some recruit will be placed in a push division, which means they were the last to be "pushed" in to fill that division up.....don't write until you have the official form letter and ship address, plus a Recruit Mail Petty Officer, RMPO, has to be trained before the first mail call happens...:))
My daughter left 02/04/2014, I received a box with with her street clothing that Saturday. As of today, I still have not received a letter from her so I can write. I am not sure what I need to do or what I can do.
hi Lorraine...dont get discouraged and just keep writing!! they are so busy learning new things and getting into a routine...when did your SR get to Great Lakes??? what is your PIR countdown at??
Hello everyone - I've just joined this group looking for good ideas. I've already written several letters, but haven't gotten any yet. I like the idea of the questionnaire that I've seen here.
