I am in a little different boat than you are.  Jared has a twin brother who went to collge in August, so he is fairly close to me, and he also has a younger brother still in high school.  So, I do not have that total empty nest that you are dealing with.  I think what bothers me the most, is I know he will be going thru some stressful procedures and I won't be able to talk to him everyday to encourage him.   I plan to bombard him with a letter a day once I get that mailing address.  Especially during dive prep.    Hang in there!   Go out to eat with a friend and enjoy a movie.

that -them getting to know one another- would be awesome.............i also feel the same way as you do as to WHY i want it for him so bad !!!

Conor told me that the only way he will NOT make Diver is if he drowns trying.............

i will pray for each of them ....thank you for your notes and kind words........it is so hard tho'..................everything is just too quiet and empty without him........i am dreading going grocery shopping this week.........i feel like "why bother" ?

i made one of his buddies promise to stop by every once in a while and "demand" that i bake cookies or brownies or a cake or something every once in a while..........sounds silly, but..............

Conor is really my heart.................

i am so glad you created this group...i am going to see if i can look u any info about Dive Prep............

His name is Jared.   We will lift both of them up.   I want it so bad for him, because he wants it.  I just know that what is in front of him is no easy task.  I told Jared when it got to dive school to only take one day at a time and concentrate on doing what he needed to do that day.

Mary,

First..THANK YOU FOR JOINING MY GROUP.  I am in the same boat.  My son left Sunday October 21 for San Antonio and then to Chicago on Monday 22nd.  I received his call at 2:30 am on Tuesday morning.   From what I understand just from reading other post, yes, you are correct.   It appears they do Dive Prep at Great Lakes after bootcamp and they have to pass that before getting sent on to dive school.    They will send you a letter in about two weeks with information about graduating from bootcamp.   I have been doing research and it appears they have graduation almost every Friday.   They seem to graduate 8 weeks after entering if there are no issues to keep a recruit back.  So if that is the case Mary, I am guessing our Son's will graduate on December 14th.  But, according to everything I read, you will receive a letter in about 2 weeks laying all that out.  Please stay in touch!   I pray both of our son's are successful.  I know mine wants it really bad, but I also know it is tough to get through.

My son left for BC on Monday 10/22 - well , that is actually the day I dropped him at recruiter's office - just got the : "I have arrived safely " call at about 1:39 this morning -
This is all very new to me - he has his contract already for Navy Dive training - I have NO idea how to find out when he graduates boot camp or how long pre-dive is which is - as I understand it - still at GL. . and starts right after graduation from BC . . . Is that right ?
