I'm glad the info has helped and hopefully made you feel a little better. I remember when my husband was in boot camp, I was freaking out because I had no clue what to expect.

We were there for A school and Power School and then moved to New York for Prototype. My husband got picked up staff. So we are staying here another two years. They paid for us to move up here . I did hear recently though that they will only pay for one move a year. I'm not sure if that's true or not, since I've never had to be in a situation to do that. 

Catie, do you know anything about that?

Navywife125, My daughter was 5 months when we moved from Texas to South Carolina. She did really well. She just basically played with her toys in the Uhaul the entire way.. I would just pack everything you normally take with you everywhere.. Make sure you have plenty of toys. I'm not sure how long it will take you guys to get there. It took us about 2 days. It wasn't hard at all moving with a 5 month old, so your daughter should be fine. 

I loved living on base in Goose Creek. I stayed to myself though. We had one of the new houses on base. We loved it. I've also have a friend who lived in the old renovated houses and she liked it.

Like Catie said, they are allowed to help you and they can stay with you. I think you only have so many days they are allowed to stay there though.We had family come up and visit for a week at a time when we lived there. When you move in you will get a packet from the BB housing office that will tell you the number of days you are allowed visitors to stay with you. 

 

I totally understand the getting nervous things. I was completely stressed and nervous before moving to goose creek. And yes go into everything thinking as positive as you can. It will make it go easier. I have good and bad days with it but I always tell myself at least he is at school and not on a deployment. It has seemed to help me with the long hours they have to put it.

Navywife125 and illysha10 good luck on your moves to Goose Creek. I loved it there. We are now stationed in Saratoga Springs for the 3rd school (prototype). The process to move isn't hard at all. The guys will go into housing and they will do everything for you. Once they have all the paperwork done and your house then your husbands will come home to get you. If i remember correctly it's usually the wednesday after they get there.. I could be wrong. It took my husband a few weeks after getting to goose creek to come home and move us (me and our daughter) up to south carolina.

 

Just remember the nuke program is extremely tough and overwhelming Your husbands will be under a lot of stress and working long hours. Just keep your heads up, make friends and keep yourself busy while he is gone. Most important keep a open mind and be supportive. It's really hard on them.

Well I'm glad to find someone else in the same boat as me! Navy for moms is my life now that my husband's in boat camp. The ladies here are amazing!

Hi ladies! My name is Illysha. My husband will graduating from boot camp on 9/9 and we'll be moving to Charleston soon after(hopefully). He'll be a MM. We have a 6 month old son. I'm just trying get a headstart on making friends because I know nothing about or no one in Charleston! :)

Be sure to check with your local Old Navy stores during the weekend leading up to July 4th...each year, they hold tables where people can send cards (donated by Hallmark) to deployed Troops, and whenever someone purchases certain items they are highlighting, Old Navy will send those items to the Troops as well! My local Blue Star Mothers group will be manning the tables at our local Old Navy stores, so check it out in your areas, too!

mnsanchez and brettany - I'm not a Nuke Wife - I'm a Nuke Mom, but I saw your comments - We used to live in Big Bear before moving to Indiana 7 yrs. ago.  My brother-in-law still lives in Hesperia just off Peach Ave.  and I definitely know where Norwalk is!  What a small world!
