Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Thanks Vickie360 and Michael's mom, That helps,

I know she gets to come home (we are pretty close to GL's) for aprx 10 days or so that's why I was wondering if I get to pick her up on graduation day or how will she get home.  NF VA is very nice, well I really haven't seen much, just Virginia Beach but its not bad driving through or flying in, lol.

Vickie360; I do know what you mean , booth of my grandkids drove to Virginia Beach last summer, and got a flat tire, and the spare was flat, I took my grandsons car in before they left to make sure everything was fine, including the SPARE, well I guess I should have dbl checked myself, but I took it to a shop I have used for years, so I trusted them, even told them make sure spare is ok etc.. Thankfully they didn't call me or I would have really been panicking no doubt,  it was in the night that it happened, they got roadside assistance, spent the night in a hotel, and told me they were just taking their time and decided to sleep half way there. So ya I know what you mean, lol. they knew I would panic if they called me, I was already worried this was their first time driving far away like that so I was already a wreck lol,

Thanks for your help

My son graduated one day and left the next. They try to get them out as quickly as possible to make room for someone else!! LOL he met with someone that helped him re-route his plane ticket to come home for about 10 days. Then his ship was scheduled to leave about a month and a half later. Apparently they try to give sailors leave right before the ship takes off so half take off three weeks before it leaves. Have take off two weeks before and then they all work the week before it leaves. At least that is how it was with ours. My son had talked to his chief because he didn't have much leave time stored up since he had just come home. There was another guy driving his car home (here where we live) and his chief approved for him to dip into future leave since they would be gone so long. He surprised us!!!! It was great. But glad I didn't know they were driving from San Diego to Texas non stop or I would have been so worried.

Thank you Michael's mom, you have been very helpful, I wasn't sure because I have heard two different stories about the Eisenhower, one that it is going to leave in March or April, and one that its going to leave in September.

Thanks again for the help I really appreciate it!

Thank you Vickie 360!  Our sailor is in Pensacola until next week... comes home for a few days and then will head out to Norfolk to begin his APACT duties.  He is excited to get the show on the road!  I am excited to learn all about what happens with this tract.

Yes prepare for the barge..but happy to report my boy is making his way and doing much better. He is on the waiting list for the barracks and has made some friends to show him the way. Good Luck to your sailor in SD!
