Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Thank you Vickie360 I am happy I found this group and I look forward to learning and sharing about the career of my future fiancé. I am in the Army and stationed in Germany but I have all the faith in the world in our relationship. I know it'll be tough sometimes but I support her in anything she wants to do because I love her and I look forward to the Navy experience and growing together.

Thank you Vickie350. My son just enlisted this week with the Sea Pact (?). He goes to boot camp in February 2016. We are a new Navy family so we are learning about everything. I am so proud of my son and trying not to be overwhelmed. Looking forward to everything with pride and a small amount of apprehension. Not sure what to expect. My son is very excited. He is a smart young man who chose to serve in the Navy. So here we go.

Welcome Missimom9470! Is your sailor at bootcamp? Mine is APACT, graduated in January and is currently on a ship.

Welcome Sandra!!! Everyone here is very helpful!!! I'm not sure I am much help though!!LOL!! My son is APACT and had PIR on January 30th. He found out where he would be about a week before PIR. He went to Pensacola and was on hold for several weeks before training. He is currently deployed on a ship.

Sandra, for our situation him being in holding allowed us to see him more. We had the entire weekend (still needs to be back on base every night). It was really nice! Of course, you won't know what's happening until PIR - my son found out the morning of PIR that he was going to holding - and everyone's situation is different.

Sandra...I am not sure how each PACT group is handled. My daughter is SPACT and it seems like most of them have had a similar experience. My Sailor graduated Dec 5 and moved across the street in GL. She was on hold because of the holidays and then came home for holidays. She went back to GL for her training. From what she has told me the length of the training can vary. Her training was 10 days. She was then sent to San Diego. There were 11 sailors that went together.  She is on the Amphibious base Coronado. If I remember correctly found out she was going to SD in the last week of boot camp or right after. But she did not get her actual orders until about 2 weeks after PIR.
