PACT Moms

Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Hello ladies! Hope you all had a great weekend.

As you all know my daughter just got picked up for Yeoman and she is currently assigned to a ship. Apparently, she will not be sent to A school for training and will be trained on the ship. I too had the same question if she would be sent to A school and then sent back to her ship but she explained to me that because her ship was undermanned then they would train her there.

So far, she is learing a lot and studies her notes when she can.

Beachbunny- sorry- I didn't explain very well. He will be on a ship out of SD. When he strikes a rate and goes back to Florida to take classes, will he then return to San diego on the same ship, or will he be placed somewhere else? Sorry- I am learning as I go...

Oh... You're funny... Bananas now I get it.... Hate the spell check on my iPhone...:)..

I got a wake up call and skyped today ... That was worth being woke up at 4am on a Sunday....

I asked about the rack packs before, he said that they have to be emptied for inspections, to not waste the money bc he keeps everything locked up.

Vickie, what do you mean start all over?? Liberty phase??... They will take training classes for their rate...:)

Thank you for sharing the pictures of the boxes and bunks :) I was so happy that my first 2 care packages arrived!! Now I'm getting ready to send more and I think I'll tape it more.

Thanks for posting pics, Beach Bunny.

I should clarify that my comment about needing a pic was just my weird sense of humor, because you said that you sent your son BANANAS to wear under his helmet (cranial). I still would like to see that! :D

When they go back to p-cola after getting a rate, do they then Go back to the same ship or do they start over with their orders?
Comment by BeachBunny on February 21, 2015 at 3:06pm

There's a "locker" that they have for their uniform's long and skinny...I put some pictures on my page, just waiting for approval still...

If he can get approved leave time and has time on his bupers, they earn 2.5 days a month....if the carrier is sent out then he'll be flown out to it, cool and not cool, as the landing can be rough....mine said it was fine bc he has been riding extreme rollers coasters all his life but 2 guys near him, lost their cookies!....there's sailor coming and going on the carriers all the time....

I hear you on long deployments mine is on a 10 month one right now, his 3rd in 20 months.....and will be heading out again this summer for another 6 months......good thing he loves what he does!!

I said before he has an apact sailor that works side by side with him, but mainly has a helper bc he is not trained...that pact sailor is working on some quals to be picked up and will have to go back to Pcola to get the rate traning when that happens.

FYI - Rack Packs (for bunks). Many find these useful. Be sure it's allowed on the specific ship.

Beach Bunny- my son is waiting to class up in Florida. If his ship leaves in late spring, what are the possibilities that he will be able to come home first? His deployment will be a long one!
