PACT Moms

Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

GatorFan - did you get your question answered?

There were also a couple other sailors (E-Pact) that he went thru bootcamp, training and were all assigned to the same ship :)

My son sailor was reclassified from AO to E-Pact fireman during bootcamp due to his vision. His PIR was 11/7 and he had about 3 weeks of training at GL. He was assigned a ship and after the holidays flew back to Jacksonville for 2 days and then flew to Spain to meet his ship. It all happened pretty quickly!!

BeachBunny2, My Kindergarteners say the same thing about me.  I read the link at the top and I've heard 4 weeks and 9 weeks at GL after BC.  I was just wondering if anyone has someone that is in BC now in the EPact or someone that has been through it.  So many APacts and SPacts, but no EPact.

You're funny Gator fan...there's great information in the discussion link up on top on E-Pact...always a need for trained fireman on every ship....I have a training chart that shows E-Pact as 9 weeks training in Great Lakes, does that sound right to you?

My son arrived in boot camp 1/5/15.  His PIR date is 2/27/15.  My son is FPact or sometimes I see it referred to as EPact.  I've seen posts on this site about SPact and APact, but nothing about EPact. I've connected with one mom who has a son that was in this and just striked for a rating.  Anyone else have experience with this?  I'm beginning to think my son is the only one in this program.

True. If every occupation had a social network site, there would be happy and unhappy employees. I am a teacher and wouldn't change it for the world, but there are many that would bash the profession and tell others to NOT DO IT.

I posted the following in the Undesignated group:

I'm so sorry that some of the undes sailors have had such a negative experience. I feel grateful that that has not been true of my son's time as an undes. He has loved it up to this point and works with some great individuals. He will be leaving for A school soon as his rate will be CTR. Reading about PACT freaked me out when I first joined, but realized I had to leave it in God's hands and knew I raised my son to do his best. Either way it turned out, he would grow as a man from the experience. None of us are exempt from going through tough times in life. It really sucks to go through, but even harder to watch our kids go through it. You just never know where the roads will take you. I hope the sailors that have had a bad experience will only have it lead to greater things. Best of luck to all of you!

My sailor has truly enjoyed his time as an S-PACT! He's been in for two years and I went to visit him in November. The change in him was positive and truly amazing!! He definitely was placed where he was meant to be. I hope your sailors have the same experience and make the best of it. :)
