msvines, I hear ya on putting my sailor back on the plane on Thursday was sad too. It has been a rough week with us anyways, had a death in the family and so it was not a good week. I missed him already even before he left the tarmack, sp. I always stand there and watch his plane leave until I can't see it anymore. LOL. It is nice though because usually one of the airport workers will come up to me and say is that your son you just said goodbye to? I say yes and they always sat tell him thank you for his service. I love it!! That is funny we put our sailors back on the plane the same day. I agree with that movie too. They should have shown some respect. People just dont get it unless you are a military family. They need to appreciate what those men/women do for their freedom. I would like to see that movie. Ya he bought the rug but says it will be worth a lot more than he paid for it. I told him don't sell it, I want it. I really wished he would give it to me til he at least gets out, which maybe this August. He may take an early out, although he has been in for 5 yrs in August.
Sorry I haven't been on in awhile just been busy with a lot of things. Now I have tests to study for, one tomorrow and one next Monday and then midterms the next week. Ugh, I can't wait for another 1 1/2 yrs to be done.
It has been a while ladies I hope that you ALL have had a great time enjoying your sailors. I still have not seen mine yet I have 85 days till he gets home for his brothers weddding. We have chatted quite a bit since he has been back in Port. He bought his first vehicle on his own to have while in HI He bought a jeep and it looks really great and the Navy Federal Credit Union helped him quite a bit with the process.
I enjoy reading your post but we have had few writings since they got home. Is any of the Sailors going other places for training or staying on the Port Royal? Our Sailor is doing some training on the island there while waiting on approval for another position.
Marcy I am so excited for mine to come home but I am already dreading the leaving when he has to. My heart hurts for you. Will you be going to HI to see him before they go back out?
Take care families got to scoot for now but keep the chatter up I enjoy reading the post.
Thank you Marcy, I appreciate it! Hope your final days with your son were wonderful!! I can't wait to see mine again! Only 12 days left!! He is struggling with buying a car now, or waiting until he gets to HI...lots to think about and consider.
BurstingwithPride, My son is a single man too. So he manages just fine by himself. I am not saying he is good with his money, LOL but he does well. He does well with it though from what I could see on his bank statement. Although while he was over seas he bought a 1300 dollar rug. Although when will he ever have a chance again like that, right. He may be getting out this August too. He will be in 5 yrs by then. Not sure on that yet. He is home here with me until this thursday. I already hate to see Thursday come this week. He is going to a Penquins hockey game tonight with his dad. So I won't see him until tomorrow but I had him all weekend, I was happy about that. Well good luck to your son.
Hi Marcy, yes, we heard about the expense, but since he is single, no children, it should be a little easier for him to handle if he is careful with his money...we will advise as much as we can before he leaves. It's a perfect time to experience it at his stage/age of life since he only has himself to worry about. Glad to know your son likes it!! Thank you!!
Burstingwithpride, good for your son. What does he do? He will like Hawaii, my son likes just really expensive.
Well tonight is my daugters sleepover for her birthday. Only 4 little girls, that is all I allow. I don't think I could handle anymore than that. LOL. Tomorrow girl scout cookies come in and we have only 2370 boxes and 198 cases to pick up tomorrow. It is going to be a busy weekend again.
I hope some of you are enjoying your sailors and going to get to visit them soon, if you are not already.
Thank you! He is at CS ASchool in VA....As far as I know, unless anything has changed, he will come home for 2 weeks before going to his new home away from home! He is thrilled! Enjoy your time!
My son just received orders for USS Port Royal, HI! He will finish ASchool in March =)
