I didn't know there was a sailor phone either. I wish mine would call from it once in awhile. So do they need calling cards for it?

Hey Mary what if you vacuum sealed the cookies. They might get a little mushed but that should keep all the yucky stuff out.

Alrighty then, sent our second package on Saturday.  I am going to try the cookies and I will keep you posted.  By the way did you know that if you mail through the US Mail it is about half the cost.  I had gone to Dollar General and bought all kinds of snack for him to have and share with others and a bunch of movies.  My husband heard from him today, I am so glad that he called his Dad, he usually calls me.  I am not complaining though.  Always good to hear his voice.

Take care fellow families of USS Port Royal

Mary I know what you mean. I wanted to do the same thing but am afraid to. I just sent out another package for mine one day last week so I will see when he says he gets it.

Lorraine, I did send out my package but not sure what day last week. I think Tuesday. that is the second one since August. I don't send out as many as i want to either. For one don't have the money second, the time too. I just got on here to see what you all were talking about. I do have my plate full and it is crazy at times. I can't wait for this semester to be over. Then I will have time to do more with my daughter as well. I was the same when he was in bootcamp, letter and all the everyday. I would ask him did you get a letter today and he would say Mom, I get one everyday from you. I did the same thing with my Sammy as well, everyday. I was suppose to be studying and would write to him instead. I would put in there should be studying. When went to Texas to see him graduate, he said mom did ever get any studying done, LOL. No not really.

Msvines, I hear ya on the sports thing. I am a HUGE Steeler fan. I may only miss one game a season for family things and that is it. I missed one last year because we were on our way home from Texas on the airplane.

Bren T, so happy they found your stuff. Have safe travels this week. How is your sailor doing?

Well thanks to your well wishes (in my opinion) they found my luggage and they are holding it in the airport until I return on Friday!!!! Thank you ladies!

Bren-T, that is awful they lost your luggage. It is bad enough to lose your possesions but some things you kept of your sons is worse. Yes they have no idea what that is worth to us as moms. I would feel the same way as you do right now. I probably would be angry too. Yes you are never ever alone with this either.

Your welcome msvines, I just thought it was interesting and did you read about it. It wasn't much but it is always to see new ships come into the Navy. I get updates every day and I try to see what is interesting on it. Plus I try to see if it has anything about the PR on it too.

I got an email from mine yesterday and I told him I was sorry I haven't sent him anything lately. He said it was ok because they don't have much room on the ship. So he did ask for some movies from his stash here at the house so i am going to send those out tomorrow for him. He had asked for a CD case to keep them in so I bought him one of those today. It holds 32 DVD's. I had to find it at Target, Walmart doesn't have them, I should say ours here doesn't have them anymore. At least the one by my house. It is not a Super Walmart, they may have them. WHo knows they are always changing things in that place.

well have a great night and I will talk to ya soon. Gotta study AGAIN. I think that is all I do anymore. Can't wait for December 13th and I am done with this semester.

Hi ladies

I know this is going to sound terrible but I feel so much better reading you notes and seeing that I am not the only one feeling the way I feel. I keep forgetting to go to facebook and look for PR. Maybe I can do that today. The main part of my job is travel so each week I am in a different city.

Last week was tough the airline lost my bag they still have no idea where it is...I have been traveling for 6 years and haven't ever had this happen. So now some of the little things I use to keep of my son with me are gone... they want to know what the value of that is... They really have no idea.

Thanks for being here...I really do appreciate it!

Well if I don't' make it back here until next week have a great week!

Sea Trials 'Successful' For U.S. Navy's New LPD - Defense News www.defensenews.com The newest amphibious transport dock for the U.S. Navy successfully completed builder's trials for Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) on Oct. 1, performing a series of tests to get the ship ready for delivery.

I get updates from the navy on my facebook page and this is going to be a new ship for them in 2012. It is going to be out of San Diego, it's name sake.
