Val, where does your son want to live? What part of the Island?

No he just got his ESWS now.

My Airforce boy got his BTZ ( Below the Zone) too. He is now a senior Airman. I am so proud of both of them.

Okay, about our vacation. We had such a great time. The weather was absolutely beautiful the whole time. We stayed at the Best Western Coconut Waikiki. Oh my we ate at a lot of great places. We ate at the Top of Waikiki, the rotating resteraunt that was really great and awesome view too, the Cheesecake Factory. We also ate at a resteraunt right on the Waikiki beach. I had Mahi Mahi for the first time and MAN was it delicious. Spent a lot of time on the North Shore beaches. Went to the Polynesian Culture Center. The Temple. I will post some pics as well. Went to Hanauma Bay and tried to snorkel, LOL Got some pics of some fish with an underwater camera. Went to the Dole Plantation. Oh man we went to the Arizona as well, the flea market at Aloha Stadium. Man there is so much we did but so much we didn't too. I wish I was still there. I cannnot wait to go back someday. There was so much that was my favorites but I would have to say the Polynesian Culture Center was BEST!!.

We are watching Wipeout and it is Armed Forces night and it is so funny.

I also have a son in Japan. He is in Misawa and is in the Airforce. I just don't know if I ever want to go to Japan though. He will be leaving there in Feb. I know right, they need to plan those things so we can go on vacation. LOL. I am hoping my Airforce boy will get back to the states now.

Oh yuck yours is just as bad as ours. We only had one stop in Chicago. We were to have a 4 hour layover and ended up being an 8 hour one. I was getting irratated by that time. If we wouldn' have gotten a plane by 6:45 we would have been stuck in Chicago airport for the night. I would not have been a happy camper. The flight was good on the way over though. We all slept most of the time. Where do you live? We are in PA, near Pittsburgh. Yes you are right by the time you get use or they get they get use to the time change it is time to go back. I know when we were there that is what happened to us. The first day well we didn't get in until 1:30 am their time and we were all back up at 6:30 ready to go, LOL. We were up early every day because of that. By the end of the week we were getting use to it and it was time to come home. I hope you enjoy your time there. Have you ever been there? It is so worth the long flight to get there. I would like to live there. Where will you guys be staying? We stayed at the Best Western Waikiki Coconut. It was in Waikiki on the Bay side.  We were on the Mountain side and it was beautiful to wake up to that every morning.

We have a 12 to 18 hour flight depending on how many stops we have to make. He thinks they will be in port the time frame we are looking at. He says he will check with his Cheif to confirm. He says they are going back out here real soon for a short period of time. But as you know that could change to. They sure love to keep us guessing. I hope your son gets to come homecsoon. It was nice when our
Sailor came home for his brothers wedding. But by the time he got used to the time difference he had to go back :-(. It just was not long enough so many people wanted to see him. We feel like we did not get to visit with him. He wants us to come out since our time was short.

thank you Val and Mary.

Mary keep us posted on his promote too. I will be anxious to hear all about it. How long will it take you to get to Hawaii? It takes almost 12 hours. it really stinks but is worth it once we got there.

I am thinking they wont be taking the ship back out. As far as I know. I hope for your sake it doesn't anyways. We were there while RIMPAC was going on and didn't get see our sailor. It kinda sucked because I thought about it all week. He said he did too. Hopefully he will be able to come home soon.

Welcome aboard Valband congrats Marcy on your sons ESWS. Our son is working on his and is about to complete. He had his evaluation and from what he told us he received excellent marks, he was told MP Must Promote. He is planning on turning paperwork for Spec Ops. I wish him well, but a bit nervous.
We are planning on going out this Sept to see him. He and we are hoping that the ship will be in. So keep your fingers crossed.
Everyone have a good day.

Val, Congrats to your son on getting to Hawaii. Do you plan to go see hime while he is there and how long will he be there? My son has been there for 2 yrs now and has another yr to go. It has been 5 yrs for my son since he has been in. My son just said one of his roommates just moved out. If you think your son would be interested let me know and I could talk to him . They live in Kopalei. I guess it is really nice and a new developement. We didn't see it while we were there a couple weeks ago because he was not there when we were.
