First here is bit of YN information:

YN training in Meridian is 7 weeks of classroom time, but that doesn't include orientation, time for the class to fill and waiting for orders.

I hope you have received a call by now. He should be allowed to call on his free time when he is not in class or standing watch. Did dad hand off son's phone after PIR?

My son graduated June 23 and and his orders changed and he left for A School (Meridian MS) on June 24 @ 3:00am.  My ex husband hardly had anytime with him.  I had a 10 minute phone call and cried through most of it.

Now I am wondering, when will I get a phone call.  Haven't heard from him at all.  I thought I would have gotten a call when he arrived.  Still carrying my cell phone with me just in case.  How long is A school.  I am hearing conflicting information.

Any information would be helpful.

thank you,

If your recruit in going to A school in Texas, she is not going to have a rating of Yeoman. My guess is that she has a yeoman position within her division which has no bearing on the world outside of RTC.

If you can tell me what her Navy job (rating) is going to be, I'll point you in the right direction. The big schools in Texas are Medical Corpsman and Master At Arms.

I was wondering if they knew how long mine will be in Texas at A school as well Stephanie....I'm going to guess it depends on their job maybe?

Hello to this group and still trying to understand this website/groups & the Navy in general lol. My girl is in BC right now at Great Lakes and graduating on June 23rd. Any other moms her with a Yeoman Ship 12 Div 193?

When my YN cross-rated to CTR as an E-5 she was housed in the Navy Gateway Inn with a per diem. None of the A school restrictions applied. But as a PO she was expected to relieve the instructors of some of their mundane tasks, like leading PT, and take on a leadership role.
