Thank you all. The quilt was a labor of love. The Green Bay is amphib. She is currently in SD.

I love hearing about all the Packers fans. To bad were Vikings fans here in this house. My hiusband thought I should have put a vikings sticker on the buttom right hand cornoer.:)

It was a challenge to find all the material since its not football season.

I should here from my son later and see what the captain says when he presents it to him.

If you go to my page you will see the quilt I just finished. It is a quilt that my son will presnet to his captain tomorrow.

The image is my interpretation of LPD 20, the USS Green Bay. I wanted make something that would stay with the ship and bare our name as donors.

This only took me about 2 months to put together.

Thanks for letting me share.

My son would laugh because I am having navigation issues with this website. I know I just read lots of info on the discussion board and now I can't re-find it. It had to do with gifts for OCS commissioning. Paymaster shared with me the gift she gave her son was an "Ensign Box" I found it on line; however it is for the USNA. anyone have an idea where I can find such an item? Thanks

My son and DIL have been married for 9 years. Whenever he goes on deployment I send her little gifts once a month while he is gone. Sometimes it chocolate dipped strawberries, if I know she is have the wives club over or some other event I always make sure fresh flowers get delievered. I always like to send her a gift card to her favorite shop the month before my son returns so she can go and get something special to wear when he returns.

She always makes us feel special when we visit. Its just the little things.

I am laying out the red carpet treatment for our future DIL (I believe in the power of positive thinking). Little trinkets (or scarves - she loves them) whenever we see her. Don't complain when our son spends time with her family (they love him!). Fresh pastry and coffee from the bakery whenever she stays overnight. Treats her friends well too. We want her to fall in love with our family, so even if the deployment part is torture, the good will outweigh the bad. Based on the pearl/diamond pendant and matching ear rings, silk kimono and other Navy apparel that my son had showered her with, he has the routine down too. :) Will let you all know when we hit payday!
