Chris, I found out he's in the Echo Company. We had our first longer than 4 min conversation. I felt like a million bucks. He said he really is enjoying this program so far. But he said all he's really looking forward to is our move to AZ.

Jamie's Mom,

I took the liberty to ask about your son's situation on another forum. A Nuke Officer offered the following: "Selection for an officer program trumps being enlisted. He may have to finish boot camp, but if he has an NROTC scholarship, he will be released from Active Duty to attend school." I hope this helps.

dartangion - Agree with Denise - my son was at a private college in Utah studying aviation mgmnt; then joined the NROTC at the University of Utah and was fortunate enough to get a Navy scholarship in his second year and commissioned when he graduated - it was a long road, but has succeeded beautifully - good luck!

Advice needed: My son applied for the ROTC program last fall, was told he didn't get in, left for bootcamp April 13 and was advised to reapply next Fall. Lo and behold, we got a call today that he has been accepted to a college in Baton Rouge, LA for a full scholorship in the ROTC program!! We are so excited for him, but now have to try to get the word to him! He graduates from bootcamp on June 4 - less than two weeks away. Has anyone had this happen to them and was it difficult for them to switch gears. He thinks he's staying in Great Lakes for A School as of right now. How hard is it going to be to get his orders changed?

Chris, I haven't even asked him what community he's in. By the way I'm the girlfriend ( and i don't have children/ but I'm only 23 so even if i didn't they wouldn't be old enough to be in the navy :) hahah ). He's one of the pilot options i know that so i guess i don't know if that makes any difference. I'll have to ask tomorrow i was told i might get a phone call.

We have a friend who was accepted in late March and is still waiting to hear about class date. We have also heard that it is really hard to get in right now....there are a lot of kids wanting to do this since the economy is so bad. Many are having to reapply several times. But it is worth trying!

My son is currently t Navy OCS. I do not remember how long it took to hear he was accepted. When he was accepted in January he did not get a date to report until the first of March. He reported April 17th. Goodf luck. Hope this helps.

Whitney,

BZ to you and Brady. So your son is STA-21? What community was he selected for? What community is he from? Lee is in Delta Company--he said there were only two companies, @ 48 students each.
