Will they really have a big dramatic HC at Lejeune.  I thought the ship did not even come all the way to shore, that they just ferried people back and forth.
  • dms

my sailor said she was on liberty  and she could not tell me where  i just want to know they are moving   yea!!!   thanks for the heads up
  • embarkguru

justanothermom, they will not have a home coming for the sailors that will be leaving the ship there.  They bus the Marines off of the beach to a parade field for their home coming.  We are trying to see if we can do a home coming for those sailors being brought up from NC to Norfolk.
  • Pat

We've booked our flight also and did the same thing pricing the refundable and going with the non-refundable due to the price. We are not doing the TC. I asked our daughter if she wanted us to do the TC or be on shore with her husband and she said on shore with him. If everything stays on schedule she will be his birthday present. lol
  • dms

I think we will find out in a day or 2  my sailor assured me they were on schedule but that was also in the middle of  the mission
  • dms

well I am glad i know where my sailor is
  • Largefilipino

I'm just glad they are heading in a homeward direction! My flag came in the mail today. For my Jamie.

*sigh*  I just wanted to see that homecoming I've seen in videos before.  All those Sailors and Marines lining the deck.  We didn't get it when he left, and it looks like we won't get it when he returns.  :(
  • Largefilipino

Can't make it either. We are too far away. My daughter tells us it's okay and we'll celebrate when her plane arrives.
  • dms

my sailor just wrote     had a good time
  • Largefilipino

Thanks Julie! Good to know dms. Haven't heard from my sailor thru e mail in a little bit.
  • dms

ok  there were some arrests  people fighting  my sailor has to deal with that  but had some good food
  • dms

don't forget the women sailors    i am still waiting to hear if my sailor has leave when they dock or if we will wait 2 more weeks to see her
  • dms

    2 weeks
  • dms

5 days or 6   some went to the movies at a base there  there is a nex  so they can shop for things they need
  • justanothermom

Not sure about the Sailors, but I think the Marines usually get a 96 after arrival, then they have to work for a little while, THEN they get their block leave.  The Marines are getting their leave in two shifts, and my Marine has already told me which block he gets.
  • dms

this is our sailors first liberty  i sure hope she took a lot of pics  she worked a day then had a few days to relax   looked at the listing of movies at a theater, since they have not been bombarded with TV, they did not recognizes any of the new movies that have been released
  • dms

we have to wait until the end of the month to make plans   not so convenient for the 3 bosses  our flight cost seem to staying the same   i keep checking

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

I know you all know this, but it's super important to observe OPSEC now and NOT mention specific dates, it's been known to delay homecoming and NO one wants that!!!

JUST A NOTE TO SAY HELLO TO ALL OF THE NAVY MOMS & TO LET YOU KNOW I'M SO EXCIED ABOUT OUR SAILORS COMING HOME.  THE SAD PART FOR ME IS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE HOMECOMING BUT YOU ALL WILL BE IN MY PRAYES.

PLEASE MOMS DONT'T LET THE DEVIL TAKE AWAY ANY JOY ON THIS BLESS & SPECIAL DAY.  IT IS A BLESSING THAT THE SAILLORS ARE RETURNING HOME.  FAMILY NEED TO SET ASIDE ANY PROBLEMS & COME TOGETHER FOR THIS BLESS & SPECIAL DAY.

MOMS GIVE FAMILY MEMBERS THE INFO THEY NEED TO ATTEND (IT'S OK TO TELL ONE & THEY PASS IT ON TO THE OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS) THIS DAY IS NOT ABOUT THEM IF THEY CAN'T GET ALONG WITH YOU OR WITH OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS FOR THIS ONE SPECIAL DAY.  THEY NEED TO STAY AT HOME.  THIS IS A FAMILY "DRAMA FREE DAY".

PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM BECAUSE YOUR FAMILY CAN BE YOUR WORST ENEMIES & READ PSALM 27 WHEN IN THE NEED.

My daughter had already told us she's going on second leave. She knows we are too far away to see her ship come home. We wish we lived closer. But communication will be much cheaper! And we are throwing a huge party for her, renting out a gazebo and all of her family and friends will be there. Because it's about her.
Sorry Sissi for your drama but I agree with Cheryl. Why would anyone need an invite anyway? You are family you don't need one. You pick up the phone and say you'll be there. You don't doodle around your phone waiting for it to ring so you can be asked.

I finally had to make a decision to take off 20 days from one of my jobs because the schedule for that month needs to be done this week. my sailor ok no matter what   we plan to stay at least 10 days visiting. we'll see how lucky we get. would be great to do the tc and visit

made easter bread this morning   did not feel like doing anything, but woke up early so i started it.     it takes almost  4 hrs   but worth it.      not the same around the house  the kids have moved out,  son is still in town  but so busy that i almost have to make an appointment to see him  and  then daughter is  on the ship   got sad, then mad and vented on facebook.  told people they were lucky to be at home with family at the dinner table having fun, and to remember that many military are far away from their family's  and most are not safe
  • Largefilipino

This deployment is just too long dms. We were already cheated from their last liberty. But we will see our loved ones soon. Till then I'm with you too. Today is almost like just another day. I bet that Easter bread smells fantastic!
  • DCT MOM
