I just received word from Lindseys recruiter that she is in Div 218 Ship 3, so it looks like she will be at PIR on 7/13 any one else?

  • Travelsalot

Hi Tori, my son is also scheduled for PIR 7/13,, He is in the 800 division Ship 04.

    Hello!

I will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the next PIR group.

Hopefully 07/20/2012…Not sure if there will be a PIR this week.

BUTthere may be…so please report in with your PIR dates when you get your Form letters…even if you do not want to create the group…it will at least let us know that there IS a PIR for that date.

This most likely will be a "mom" who's recruit arrived to RTC sometime this last week...there are no exacts…ONLY my “guestimation”. (Possibly between 05/17 to 05/22) Some of you will start receiving your form letters soon with your recruits PIR date in it.

This Training Group will start with the Division 221 and will have a performing Division of 936.

New TG’s are usually posted on RTC website on Mondays (unless there is a Federal Holiday then it is Tuesday). Lately, it has been posted later in the week. Then back to Mondays! So you can see what I mean about no exacts.

BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. It is also possible for recruits to arrive in the same week…or on the same day…but have different PIR dates. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC. I will take this ship/div # for the purpose of starting a PIR group BUT please wait for the form letter that your recruit will send home to address your mail and send it. The address your recruiter gets oftentimes is incomplete or has too much information that is not necessary for the address.

Folks, if it is something you think you'd be interested in...Friend me, send me a message and get details.

    Thank You!

HI everyone, some of you are exactly where I was two years ago. My daughter left for bootcamp on May 25, 2010 (a Tuesday) and had PIR July 23rd. She volunteered for the performing division and tried out for and became a member of the boot camp choir. I can tell you I was pretty much heartbroken the whole time she was gone to boot camp but when I heard her sing at PIR and was able to finally hug her all that heartbreak turned into more pride than I could ever imagine. You all are in for quite a journey and I very much look forward to getting to know you when you join your PIR groups. Believe me when I say I feel your pain and it will get better as each week goes by. Hang in there, we are all here for you <3 If you need anything at all please feel free to send me a friend request or email me at uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com

Thank you to everyone who voted for Recruit Man-Ronny.  When voting closed he was ahead, so I hope that when they declare the winner that it is him.  Ronny does a lot for our recruits by providing free phone cards through http://callsforrecruits.org/. While you're thinking about it, if you are able, please make a donation at http://callsforrecruits.org/ to help with the cost of the cards.

Hello again to all of you wonderful admins!!! I'm back in the boot camp section again!!!

Our 23 yr old daughter just enlisted today and leaves May 28th for MEPS - ship date is May 29th!!! This has been a whirlwind decision for her - because this was never part of her life plan!! Our son - her little brother, just PIR'd 6 weeks ago on Feb 1st and it was a life changing experience for her!!! I can't believe I'm going to have 2 sailors by the end of summer. And our youngest son is planning to enlist too, but he is only 16, so we've got 18-24 months before he goes. Then we will only have 1 child out of 4 who will be a "civilian", LOL.

It was extremely difficult to send our 18 yr old son off to boot camp this past Dec 5th, many tears were shed!!! But as time went on it got easier & easier and we couldn't be more proud of him!!! Can't wait to do it all again, and again!!! :)
  • Navymomx2

Hello all.  My son is leaving on May 7th.  He is so eager to go.  Going in as an HM.   I also have a daughter who leaves in August, also as an HM  So proud of my kids!

  • 239NavyMom

My son gets to ILL on May 1,  Im a basket case,  anyone else that day?

  • LadyShai85

My husbands date is getting closer (May 15th)! I went to a meet and greet potluck at his DEP meeting yesterday. I felt so excited for him. I am really proud of him <3 I was able to speak with an E-2 who just finished basic and A school. She informed me (which a few things I already knew) to not send care packages during basic (they will make your recruit do pushups), she said send letters ALL the time because they look for them every time mail comes in, and know that they are okay. The sailor also expressed for recruits to get ready for that 10 feet dive into water! She was really fun to talk to. I share my experience to say get involved because it does ease your heart and mind to what you are about to encounter with your new recruit. I gave that sailor a big hug and I hope to see her around. Hooyah! I also wanted to express my gratitude to all of you who have loved ones becoming sailors. They could not have come as far without your love and support. Hug your sailors extra tight because they are committing themselves to the safety of the US. God bless our Sailors - HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT!

  • amborg2

My son goes May 1st also. His dad was USCG (please do not say puddle pirate) and both grandpa's were USN, along with almost all of my uncles.

My son leaves May 7th. Can't believe how fast this time has flown by. Gonna miss my sailor!

  • Navymomx2

May 7th is coming up so quickly.  Ahhhhhhh!  Seems like so much has been done to prepare, but still so much to do.  First things first, go visit my husband who is on deployment...get to go see him for a few days with the kids at Langley AFB in Virginia day after tomorrow.  I think some quality time with dad, who has been through this, is much needed, for him and for me!

  • imomxfour x 3 Sailors

Well, our daughter who was going undes changed her mind and is NOW leaving for boot camp on April 29th instead of May 29th!!!! She went ahead & requested an actual job (AD) instead, and it just so happened that another girl from around here backed out of leaving today for that exact job, so they had an opening to fill immediately!! We are just thankful they are allowing her to wait a little longer before she leaves, because for a little bit this morning, we thought she might be leaving today, yikes!! What a day we've had already...LOL!!

What's really cool, is that she will be going to Pensacola for A School where our son is right now, and they'll be there together for a little bit, maybe even the whole time, depending on how long our son is held after A School grad!!! It sure would be awesome if they could come home together for leave!! ;-) Need to find out how long A School is for AD....

oh, and I guess it really doesn't matter if I stay in this group, because those leaving May 1st will still be in the same PIR date as her, so I think I just stay here

  • Pam- Jared's mom

My son leaves May 7th as an AO.  I know it's the absolute best path for him to take but I sure will miss him!

  • lemonelephant

  • lemonelephant

imomxfour, "A" School for AD is about 6 weeks once your Sailor classes up and begins. I see you have found AD Moms, girlfriends, and families; you will also want to check out Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. It's never to soon to start thinking about OPSEC and PERSEC. OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) will explain both and there are changes at the bottom that some of you may need to make.

  • Navymomx2

    15 days!  Yep, crying already.

What are your thoughts about how to handle getting clothing, etc, to your sailor for after GL for him/her to have at A school?  I understand that I can meet him at the airport when he takes off after PIR to give him his cell phone, laptop, etc which will fit right into his backpack, but what about everyone else?

Should he just pack a bunch of stuff now and I will ship a box to him once he arrives in San Antonio, or are they allowed to check a bag if I meet him at the airport with it?  I appreciate your imput. Laura

  • lemonelephant

Navymomx2, yes, he can check another bag, but you would have to be there when he is checking his bag to add another one. Some have bought a black backpack that meets Navy Specs at the NEX and had their Sailor check his backpack from BC when he checks his sea bag and other things. They have then put the things that their Sailor wants in the backpack and given it to him at the airport to have as a carry-on. Most just take a few things to be added to the Sailor's backpack from BC and then send things later. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend. It is a good idea for your future Sailor to pack up or set aside for you the things he will want during Liberty and at "A" School.

lemonelephant, thanks so much.  I thought had seen that somewhere, but couldn't find the info.  I don't spend too much time searching around the site because it seems to run so slowly, so appreciate the the quick response.  Your are a plethora of information to so many of us and I appreciate it.  God Bless!
