Hello all-just wanted to introduce myself. My daughter Kira just arrived at Pcola on Wed-she actually PIR'd on 7/2 and has been at GL this whole time on a medical hold. She finally got her waiver after watching just about everyone else leave-she will be in AC school. She is happy to be down there especially with some of her friends that left ahead of her. But she was funny-she said she traded the Chicago wind for rats! She also mentioned she put her chit in for Christmas leave. I will miss her for Thanksgiving but when she was home she worked at a nursing home so for 3 years she worked on Thanksgiving. It's finally great to join this group after waiting for 4 months!

That's probably right about the tickets. You have a hard time changing them if things change. Insurance doesn't help, we found that out. When we wanted to change our son's ticket, if was less expensive to cancel, take the 150 loss and rebook. When he came home from Pensacola, the flight was canceled as he was in the airport. It was added expense to change flights then also.

I had heard that New Orleans was off limits but had not heard about Panama City. Panama City is a huge Spring Break destination and it is crazy there at that time. Tindall AF Base is in Panama City isn't it? Alaina...every command is different...my daughter was told not to buy airline tickets until the chit was approved??? Each Commanding Officer is different and there are a variety of commands reresented here on the group. Robin

So many questions, so little time: My son told me he had UNTIL 12/1/09 to submit his chit for leave, now I'm reading it has to be done AFTER 12/01/09. Any input, Jacqueline? Also, he said he had to have a travel itinerary BEFORE putting in for the leave? I went out on faith and booked his flight (prices going up and up and up every day), so he now has the itinerary but this just seems weird to me. Also, he told me he is not allowed to go to New Orleans or Panama City because they are too much of party towns. Anyone else have this experience. He is Phase 2, waiting to class up for Aircrew if that makes any difference.

Yes I heard the news about the master cheif, My son said he was driving a motorcycle when the driver hit him. He also told me about wearing there dress blues. Its really sad. My heart goes out to his family.

No I hadn't heard any of this....I didn't expect all this..I kinda liked it when they were in BC...at least we knew where they were at all times...
