Your recruit can buy a phone card and stamps at the NEX, but he may thank you if you send both. Do not overnight letters (except by using the Sandboxx App) since they will have to be opened in front of the RDC and you do not want to draw attention to your recruit. (See Phone Cards and Phone Calls and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit for more information.)

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning folks that is great News to hear profprojman, now you can start sending letters but I wouldnt overnight it, it wont make a difference he still will get it in the time they sirt the mail if that majes sense. LemonElephant put the sites to read on it. But very exciting news YAY!

  • Mafe777

I received the "Form Letter" yesterday too!!!  I'm so thrill about this... I started to cry.  I know he is doing well and he will make it thru.

Now I have some questions... someone please help the Form Letter only has 33 spaces for 3 people but in the content of it it states that he can have 4 people for graduation, am I reading it wrong?

  • Phoenixmom

Excuse for the typos my mind is still trying to catch up. Lol!

  • profprojman

I read online that some of the graduation classes are larger than others and that is why our letters say only 3 instead of 4 guests are invited.  Sad because now his sister can't attend.

But thank you for the info about Sandboxx!  I hadn't even heard of it but already installed it and sent a letter off to him this morning!

  • Heather

So exciting for your form letters. Hopefully I will get mine this week!!

  • Dr. Von

I still haven't received my letter but did get a call.  My son's PIR is July 20th.  At this point I think I'll only use one ticket.  Is it allowed for me to offer my extra tickets to other families?

  • Kar0509

Dr.Von my boyfriends PIR is July 20th as well!! It’s awesome to meet another family with the same PIR date!

  • Phoenixmom

Only those that are on the list may go to PIR, so Dr. Von if there is someone on the list besides you then they will be able to attend. And Congrats on your Call!

  • Dr. Von

Hi Kar0509!  Nice to "meet" you!  Congratulations on your boyfriend's progress.  I was just looking into flights and accomodations - I'll be out of the country for a few weeks between now and PIR so I want to make sure I have everything in place.  Yay for both of our future sailors!

  • Phoenixmom

EliteLioness That is AWESOME News ! YAY! things will be fine and so will you! keep me posted when you get form Letter, I will do a Happy dance with you.

  • Dama Mafroda

Phenixmom, I see that you posted some PIR graduation dates and you posted July 20 with some divisions, but I don't see my son's division there (287). According to his recruiter his PIR graduation date is on July 20. Do you know anything about it?

Also, does anybody know anything abou "Sandboxx" and how does it work?
  • lemonelephant

The divisions for the 07/20/2018 PIR date have not been posted at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/tg_grad_dates.html, which is why they are not included in the listing of the current PIR groups.

Did you receive your recruit's address from the recruiter? If so, then wait before mailing letters because things sometimes change.

There is info on the Sandboxx App in Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit. It allows you to send letters that will get to your recruit in one or two days.

    Check your My Page.

I just got a phone call from my son. I was in the car driving so I heard it on bluetooth. He was very business  like just told me the graduation date and division he was in no other talk just the fact then the conversation ended.  I couldn't write anything down as I was driving. So just heard through bluetooth. I could talk with him at all, very professional.  I haven't received the form letter yet. I will get that right? Was that conversation typical.

  • Phoenixmom

Dama Mafroda  More than Likely that will be your Loved Ones PIR they havent put the site or PIR together yet, they are trying to get it put up unitl Aug. 3rd I beleive just behind some. As soon as the PIR's are up I will post.

Heather Yes very typical, you should receive the form letter with the Date your Son gave you. There was word something going on with the form Letters being sent out. I wouldnt worry to much.

  • Heather

I guess I thought the phone call would be more personal. ; (   he didn't even sound the same.

  • Phoenixmom

Heather it may of been a scripted call that is why.

  • Heather

It definitely sounded like he was reading from a script and / recorded?

  • Phoenixmom

Yes many are receiving calls like that, not sure what is going on.

  • Heather

Is that type of call not the norm?

  • Phoenixmom

I think they may be moving recruits around not sure, may have to do with PFA, but as Long as you received a Div. and PIR I wouldnt worry to much. That is why calls are coming in like that.

  • Dr. Von

Heather, the call I got was exactly like that.  They're definitely reading from a script.  My son even called me Ma'am - not mom!  That call came in on Sunday and I got my form letter today.  Don't worry - getting the call is GOOD news!

  • Heather

He did say he was moved to a different division. I got m'am too. I at least wanted to say I loved him but didn't get a chance:(

  • Dr. Von

As I said, I got the exact same call and everything is fine.  My son was moved to a different division too - nothing to worry about.  I was on a plane when the call came so I got mine on voicemail.  You'll have plenty of opportunity to tell him you love him at PIR.  Besides - they know we love them even if we can't say it!  Seriously Heather, this is good news!

  • Heather

Thank you Dr. Von. So glad to have this group

  • Phoenixmom

Any I'm the Sailor calls today? If so Congratulations! PIR tomorrow Whoop whoop! have a great time in Chicago and with your Loved One!

  • lemonelephant

Phoenixmom, the May shippers will have PIR dates beginning 06/22/2018 and going through 07/27/2018 (or later if there is an issue).

  • Phoenixmom

LemonElephant I beleive I was to put this on BCM. My Mistake. But thank You for the correction and the info.

Good Morning Folks sorry for the wrong info I had put, I hope this Friday finds you all well.

  • lemonelephant

    :o)

  • VenturaMari

My son has been at RTC since 5/31, no letter yet, hoping no news is good news. I got the "I am here call" but nothing else. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Heather

Yes hopefully. My son went to RTC MAY 24, no letter yet . Yes that's what I have been told, no news is good news!

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning Ladies, Letters shall bgin coming around the third week. here is a site to read on letters.

Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit

  • Tabitha

Elitelioness, that is such a great story, it made me smile. What the mail man said about that letter being priceless is so true on so many levels. When our SR first left, I signed up for informed delivery. I seen it coming in the mail and don't you know I never received it. I was so heartbroken, so finally I stayed home one day to talk to my mail carrier. Found out the day that letter was delivered, my regular mail lady was on vacation. Our form letter got lost in the mail or either was delivered to someone else. Talk about heartbroken :( Thank goodness about two weeks later we got a 45 min phone call from him, it made my broken heart heal. I love reading everyone's stories hear, they truly keep me sane while I wait for PIR. :) Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

  • Heather

EliteLioness.. My son has the same PIR date. Yay. I have not received the form letter yet either, but when I do get it, it will be like Christmas:) I got the same kind of phone call as well, as my son said he switched divisions too. So happy that we have the same PIR date!

  • lemonelephant

Yes, you can call the recruiter Thursday (since it sometimes takes a day or two to get the info into the system when a change is made) and get the address and it should be the right one. Double-check the address against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/faq.html#contacting_recruits or  Ship/Division--How it Works.

  • lemonelephant

You MAY get a second form letter with the correct info. Some have and some have not.

  • Heather

    Happy Wednesday,

Thanks for this group. Such a strong support group. Thanks to all who put so much time into learning all of the information.I contacted my son's recruiter for his address. the recruiter gave me the address and ship #. I double checked on here for the ship # address and the recruiters address he gave me and they do not match. What one do I use. Still waiting for form letter, so that cannot be a resource

  • Heather

Is there is anyone with a recruit in DIV 293 or its brother division, DIV 294.

  • bz74mom

Hi ladies, I love reading all of your posts and realizing Im not the only one stalking my mailman. Whoever suggested signing up for informed delivery thank you because I was rushing home every day from work to check the mail.

My son left May 30th for BC anyone else have the same ship date? I'm still waiting for the letter.

  • VenturaMari

I get my letter today! I love USPS delivery notification! My son is in division 300 Ship 07. Anyone else in that division! Can't wait to get home and read it!

  • profprojman

My son confirmed he is going to A school in Mississippi.  Does that mean we only get to spend Friday with him and then he leaves Saturday morning?  We need to book our travel but unsure what days we should reserve.

  • Phoenixmom

profprojman more than anything Yes Please come to Boot Camp Moms there is alot of info on there. I will post info on your My page please check in a bit ok

  • lemonelephant

Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will get the tickets for PIR....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Welcome new members!

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Also, be sure to join this group for boot camp moms, here you'll find lots of valuable info.

  • FluffySitter (Michelle)

May 9, 2019. That's the day my son left. Looks like this group is left over from last year. But maybe we can start a new one? Or maybe when I get his PIR Date that group will be a better place to communicate with other parents of young men in about the same place as mine?

  • Sara

I joined and my son left May 1st but I got some helpful info from lemonelephant but will probably unjoin once I get the PIR date.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Hi Sara and FluffySitter - this group is more for you (and your future sailor) to prepare for boot camp.  Now that your son's have left for bc you will find more info in the boot camp group and then when you get the letter you'll want to be sure to join the PIR group.  You don't have to unjoin the group if you don't want to - and be sure to look around - there are lots of groups to join!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Welcome to new members joining!  May seems far off but it will be here before you know it.
