This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in June...I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of June of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions
Omg. Just received my form letter from my son. Happy dance and tears. So what is up with all the zeros with a slash across them? I assume is date is August 10 that’s what it stayed. Should I check before I make airline flights?
AZNavyMom00, he may have gotten flustered and put it in "the box". Have it ready to send back when you get TheFormLetter, but it may not fit. Teeth can shift in just a short time.
My son left 6/14 and I just got the form letter yesterday. I know it's hard, and seems like forever, but it will come! I got the box 6/19 so it really felt like a long time before the letter came. Just seeing the handwriting was the best feeling! Hang in there!
I think for some reason mail gets to us fast. We get anything from there in two days where others it takes almost a week. Keep your chin up Mom I’m sure it will be there this week! Remember no news is good news.
Received the letter yesterday! So happy to finally be able to mail all the letters I've already written. Now I just hope he has time to read them and reply! HappyMom!
6/27 Shippers - I just got my box from Fedex! I've never been so happy to get dirty clothes in my whole life! I saw papers in the box, and got all excited that he actually slipped me a note, but no. It was just his airline ticket, itinerary, his DEP discharge/enlistment in the regular component of the service. I'm saving ALL of this for his scrapbook. That I'm about 10 years behind on... LOL!
So a reliable source says that for the 4th of July the kids get a barbecue. Hope it is so and our kids are having a good time , even if it's for a meal this 4th. Happy 4th of July all!
MommaV7, I am so sorry to hear this, my form letter came about two weeks after my daughter arrived. I, like you had letters waiting to be mailed. My heart is hurting for you, It is so hard not to be able to tell your son, "we have letters ready to mail to you".
I am sitting here crying at work about your situation. What a great kid you have for sharing his stamps etc... I just sent my daughter stamps and envelopes in a large manila envelope, she also said she did not have any, I sent her two books of stamps and envelopes. I wish she knew your son so she could return the favor to him like he so graciously did with his fellow recruit. Please keep me informed, I will be thinking of you. Just know your son is safe and he is surrounded by friends that he has made.
I didn’t think we could send large envelopes, can we? Because I know my son didn’t have any envelopes or paper he insisted he would get it there but I don’t think they have much option to buy it that often.
MommaV7 I am so sorry to hear this, I posted on Boot Camp Moms to see why this is Happening and I am hoping that someone can answer (one of the more Knowledgeable Ladies) I help out on BCM and I have no answer. Please let your Son Know we all are thinking of him and routing and sending Prayers his way. To keep his head up!
6/27 Shippers... My informed delivery shows two letters today!! I think one will be the Form letter and then another letter from my son. I am a happy Mama today!
Havasu if it is a mail metered piece of postage it is the form letter. If it has a stamp it is a letter from your SR! That’s how I figured out what was what! Yay for you!!!! Just got our form letter yesterday and two regular letters the day before! Either way I seemed to have a weight lifted off my shoulders just to hear from her! What div is your SR?
Thank you, sherrifm! I figured that out about an hour ago. Since I am still waiting for the mailman I keep re-checking my informed delivery message just to see his handwriting. I'm feeling a bit silly about that, but doing that made me realize the differences in the envelopes/stamps. Now, back to waiting for the mailman...Hahaha!
I have been doing a lot of researching on this site and other Navy sites to help. I've also watched some of the PIRs online and that was helpful to see what the graduation will be like.
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."
Hi! I'm still looking for any members who have DEPs leaving June 19, 2019. I'd love to hear what you are doing in these last month or so to get your recruit ready and yourself ready!
My son leaves June 19th too. He works so he gave his 2 weeks notice yesterday so that June will be free for him to get ready and for us to have a family trip. We will be going to the Grand Canyon. He has his own apartment so we will be helping him pack up his things. Mostly, I am just trying to spend time with him as much as possible but also give him space so that he can process what's going on.
A'sSubMom, my son is leaving on 6/19 too! He's been in DEP since May 30th of last year, so he's been working towards this for a long time. I've been trying to prepare myself mentally as well. No matter how much time I've had to prepare, as the days are ticking down, my emotions are going crazy!
My son is graduating from HS on 6/5 and his party is on 6/8 and he leaves on 6/19. A lot happens in one month!
I've been on this site for quite a few months, but haven't really communicated with anyone too much. Been mostly learning from the veteran moms. They are a wealth of information!!!
I'm happy to finally find someone else who's son is leaving the same day as mine. I hope you're coping well and we find our sons get through BC stronger and better men!
Thanks for reaching out, Davesmom19. June sounds like it's going to be busy and emotional. Graduation from high school and joining the military are exciting milestones but it means that our babies are growing up. Congratulations on raising a future sailor. I'm so happy for these groups. I learn a lot and feel comfort knowing that I'm not the only mom feeling this way.
Hello, looking for some advice/help. My son is scheduled to leave on 6/19. He is worried because he has not heard from his recruiter/chief in a few weeks. They've had some changes and quite honestly the bi-weekly trainings and weekly check-ins have been sporadic at best. Has anyone else encountered this? And this close to leaving for BC?
Also, he is having a ton of emotions right now and I'm wondering if he's second guessing joining. He says he still wants to join, but I can tell there's some angst there. Is this normal??? Thank you!
My son shipped out on Wednesday (6/19)...let the journey begin! Looking forward to the box and form letter to arrive so I can start to send letters and have an idea of when PIR will be!!!
Good Morning All - June is right around the corner. Be sure you and your SR are getting ready now!

Hello. My son ships out on June 30th also Kellyrene. We’re definitely disappointed that we can’t witness his swearing in. He’s super excited and I’m super nervous. His brother is shipping on the 8th. We’re so proud of them both, but this is tough! My first son to ship will have a sub job, and the second will be a CTI. Thus it begins.

Cimbry, Zeros are written with a slash through them so that they are not confused with the letter O.

if for some reason it has been at least 3 calendar weeks since your recruit arrived at the RTC and you do not have The Form Letter (http://www.navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/the-form-le...), then you can call the recruiter and get the address and mail letters to your recruit, but be sure to double-check the address against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/faq.html#contacting_recruits (http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/faq.html#contacting_recruits) or Ship/Division--How it Works (http://www.navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/ship-divisi...). You can also download the Security Access Form (http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/assets/pdfs/RTC_GRAD_VISITOR_ACCESS_FO...) and complete it and send it to your recruit, but your recruit has the final say as to who will attend PIR.

Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will get the tickets for PIR....
If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
