Ladies, little Will was doing really good and was going to be sent home.  I just received this email from his grandma:

Please pray for Will. He has been vomiting blood. The doctors and
nurses aren't sure whether he has a virus or his stomach has a tear.
They are doing x-rays to see if the stomach is torn. Just when we
thought he was well enough to go home, this setback happens. But we're
thankful he is where he needs to be so the doctors and nurses can take
care of him. God is still in control and we need to have faith that He
    will see Will through this.

mornin' all!   I am loving the cooler weather of Milwaukee.  they think it's hot but I don't haha.

Had a great birthday yesterday and thanks for all the wishes.  Yep, I am 29 plus 30.  you do the math haha.  We had an open house at my sister's community room in her condo complex yesterday afternoon-lots of nephews/nieces and "greats" came, plus a good friend.  Loved visiting with all and eating cupcakes.

Then the sis from Utah and I went to a favorite thrift store to buy some wicker baskets to burn in our brother's fire pit.  I told Connie "when I get here, I get this pyro thing going."  Wicker burns really good and since it is cool late at night, the bonfire feels great!

Lyn, the bride and dress are awesome!  I am impressed.

And quilt, that little quilt is so pretty.  that little girl will love it!

I am speaking this morning at my dad's church about Heads at Ease.  They have been big supporters of the project since May 2009, so I am excited.

Dori, would you mind posting the thank you note and reply from AWSC M from HSC-9?  He wrote such a cute response back to her.  Please post it in the Bush thread.  I am going to read that this morning.

T, so happy to know that fabric has been given out!  can't wait to see what is made from it.  Good going on recruiting more help.

Matt's mom, love the pc sewing party.  I have been asking the quilting store about doing that again this fall.  Those are so much fun!

Natalie, thanks for the starting that discussion.  Remember, we are only sending 1-2 boxes per month.   So sign up if you'd like to do one in the future.

ME, praying for your knee.  any relief yet?

Better sign off and get ready!

Hi all, my talk at church went really well today.  thanks for praying for me!

Shirley, we do have a member on with a son or husband on the USS Peleliu.  I"ll think on it and it will come to me.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

sorry to hear about your surgery, that is never fun.  we will be starting a marine unit for the next several months, plus doing an ongoing project with a nurse in Germany.

so when time allows, you can jump back in.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

wonderful Shirley!  going to see Capitan America with 2 of my sisters today.

got bit up by mosquitos last night.  not fun.  haha

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I saw Capitan America today and it was wonderful.  go see it.  Got this email from my friend Pat today.  Her family is really being hit hard:

    All
My son-in-law Robby (Will's father) was just admitted into the
hospital where Will is. He has been experiencing blurred vision and
his blood sugar was over 400. They also took a catscan to rule out
anything that might be causing the blurred vision. But the doctor is
suspecting he has Diabetes. As you can imagine the stress the whole
family has been under plus not eating or sleeping properly. Please
pray the doctors can determine the specific causes of the blurred
vision and high blood sugar. Like my daughter said, "When it rains, it
pours. But at the end of the rain is God's rainbow."

    Thank you,
    Pat

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

oh my Ally, we sure will.  thanks for telling us.  I just got home from school training so haven't seen the news.
  • LLovesmysailor

I just saw the news. It looks like we lost 21 SEALs from SEAL team six. Its the worst loss to the SEALs since they were founded in the 1960s.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

we are in a war and the terrorists will not let up.  praying for the families.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Mornin' ladies.  Hope you are all well today.  Keeping our families in prayer especially those that lost their loved ones.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Ah, that alarm went off at 5 am today.  It is different waking up and saying to self

"I am awake so will get up" than hearing the alarm at that same time and know I have to get up. haha.

BUT it will be fun to see what this new batch of kinders will provide for adventures.

Just doing the CARE job plus some more training until Thursday when school actually starts.

    have a great day ladies.

  • Birdie

Spent a weekend with my DIL and granddaughter. Here is one of my favorite pics I took. There are lots and lots of cute ones, but I really love this one.

  • LLovesmysailor

I just got a message from one of the wives from my son's sub. There is a 19 year old wife with an 18 month old, who just had a baby boy. She needs infant clothes for the baby boy and the toddler (girl). So, if anyone has anything they can send to Groton, I'll give you the contact address.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Birdie, she is a doll!  I bet you just loved on her all weekend.

I don't have any baby clothes.  did anyone contact the sub's FRG?  and oh my, so young and so close together!

  • LLovesmysailor

It was the FRG that contacted me. I sent a baby quilt, thought I'd check to see if anyone else on my lists, could help out.
  • Cindylaine (MN Mom)

I just wanted to share that I have a SAILOR!

I have some baby clothes that I have made.  I'd be more than happy to send them to her.  I'm leaving Wed but will do it when I get back from PIR.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Congrats Cindy!  a sailor!  I remember that phone call.  Very happy for you.

Lyn, send me her address.  I have a red, white and blue baby blanket that I crocheted a while ago.  I'll check with some other people to see if we can get some things together for her.  how old is the girl?  you say toddler, is that 2 years old etc?

  • Cindylaine (MN Mom)

What size is the toddler?  I also have clothes for her.
  • LLovesmysailor

The other child is 10 months old. She is taking 12 or 18 month size cloths. I'm thinking 12 month size for summer clothes and 18 months for winter. The real need is for boy clothes for the infant.
  • m'smom

Don't have baby clothes anymore-Best I can do is prayer!  Guess that always helps.  A group I am in is having a yardsale this weekend.  Will check for baby clothes there.

Cindy-Great news!! Have a good trip!

Question on fabric for pcs...has anyone ever used power ranger fabric?  I found some from when my sailor was a little guy.  Also some sylvester and tweety.  Any opinions?

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

USE IT!    The troops love everything and the cartoon characters are a big hit!
  • Maryellen

@ Cindy, Congrats, you will love PIR take a big box of Tissues . I really Enjoyed my daughters.

Ladies, I go back to the Ortho tomorrow afternoon, he wants to put the stuff that is made from the crowns of chickens in my knee. I don't know what is going to happen because I did find out that the insurance will only cover part of it and it is very expencive. Right now I just can't afford another medical bill. Please just keep me in your prayers that its not that bad. The cortisone did help a little but I am still in pain. I just don't know what to do anymore, I can't get comfortable enough to get much sleep. Please just pray for me.

  • Cindylaine (MN Mom)

    Thanks everyone.

    Prayers going out Maryellen.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    praying for you Maryellen.
  • m'smom

Maryellen-I have a friend also waiting for insurance approval for the Chicken stuff.  She has a friend who had it and it worked really well.  She has no pain and can do anything she wants.  Sounds gross but if it works...  Good Luck!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I will say this about the chicken stuff, that is a substance that God made, therefore natural.  I'd trust that more than all the man made drugs.

and good to know that it worked well for your friend m's mom!

  • LLovesmysailor

ME, I'm keeping you in my prayers and sending good thoughts.

When you are feeling better (really not hurry), I'm wondering if you have heard from  Capt Luther?

  • Maryellen

Well, He put the order in for the chicken stuff and we are now in a holding pattern waiting to see what the insurance will cover and what I will have to come up with. Untill then I have to indure the pain and keep loosing weight. he told me that because of my age and weight there is NO ONE that will do the recostructive surgery. I find this to be a little hard to believe. he wants me to walk and to get on the treadmill and I just can't. He wants me in the pool every day but how do you go in the pool when it is storming everyday. Well Im going to have a good cry and crawl back into my books for school. Thanks for the prayers.
  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Maryellen, the pool does help.  Can you go to a YMCA?  The therapists told me that "bicycling" in deep water was really excellent for the knees.  It helps preserve what little cartilage you have there.  Also walking in shallow water, four laps forward, four laps backwards and four laps sideways.  Doing deep knee bends in shallow water helps as well.  It is amazing how much more you can do in the water than you can on land.

On land, you may want to try the elliptical.  It is a passive aerobic exercise.  Using the stationary bikes is also great.  Anything that gets the knees working does help.

I do know how difficult it is, really, I do.  But if your doctor is not addressing the situation, have you considered getting a second opinion?  If you do, I recommend finding someone who does the minimally invasive procedure.  This assumes you are facing total knee replacement.  My husband had that and two weeks out from surgery, his surgeon told him he could do anything he wanted ... except climb a ladder, which he is not supposed to do every.  If you are talking about partial knee replacement, then I would look for someone who is very experienced.  That is trickier.  I had a PA whose husband went to Boston to find someone who was well qualified.

  • LLovesmysailor

ME, I have a recombent bike. Its like sitting in a chair and your feet are level with your hips. I have because of my back, but it is a lot easier on your knees. Not to mention getting on the darn thing. Your doctor may not want to do the surgery because of the danger of the anesthesia when a patient is over weight. Been there!

Good luck and hang in there. If you need to talk, you have my number.

  • Maryellen

Dori and Lyn, it will be a total knee I have almost NO cartlidge left in it, and the maniscus is shredding. Dori the elippitacal is what agravatted it and that is how it all started. Im going to look for the thing Lyn is talking about and see it that helps. I was going to go to the YMCA but I would have to join the water arobics classes and at 40 dollars every month right now I can't. They are saing the main pool will be open by the end of the week and they are going to give me permission ot be in there after dark when its not raining. They reprogrammed my key so that I can go in after 8pm and do my excersises and maybe that will help. he did not even offer any suggestions on what to do or anything. I see my regular doctor next week and I am going to have a long talk with her and see what she can come up with. Thanks for the suggestions. Love You Both.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I'm sorry for all the knee problems.  glad you can go into the pool after hours, I would like that better.

Praying for you.  I posted a  new thread.

  • DC - G'mother of My Fav Sailor

Maryellen, I also have a recumbent bike and like it much better than a regular stationery bike.  It is easier on the tush.  Still, given DH's experience with knee replacement, I would look seriously at the minimally invasive procedure.  Don't get me wrong, it is still invasive but a five-inch incision is better than a ten-inch one.
  • LLovesmysailor

Sue, I got an e-mail from Trouble and she can't get on the N4Ms site. I don't know if there is anything we can do. If you have any suggestions, you need to send it to her by regular e-mail.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I wonder if she changed her server.  I had some problems with that.  I'll email her and thanks for letting me know.

    School starts tomorrow!
