Congrats Lorene! My son is at DLI. They are on lock down. No one on or off the base (except air force, not sure why they haven'e been locked down). They are restricted to the base. Even if he were not subject to lock down, he would be restricted from seeing you for a few weeks. He will need to "phase up". Once he arrives he will go through orientation and learn all about phasing up! Good news is you can communicate with him freely! Once the lock down is lifted and he phases up, you can go and meet for dinner. Again, Congrats on your sailor and hope you get to see him SOON!
Do you have your son's power of attorney (medical and/or financial)? We did that the first trip home, just in case. Another mom had suggested it for things like car registration and stuff. It's proven already valuable. But if he doesn't have time to get taxes filed, he won't have time to find someone to notarize a doc either :-( So difficult, I'm sorry.
Hi Lorene! Sorry for the delayed response - I don't get on here much anymore. Yes, my sailor went from 800 div to DLI also. I won't lie -- I am more than a little relieved by the change! :) I am jealous that you live so close by. We are anxiously waiting for things to get more normal so we feel comfortable flying out for a visit. Stay well everyone!
