I got that message too. :( It is really hard not to reply when I get emails from my hubby. He already emailed asking if I was upset at him because I wasn't replying so I just sent a note telling him I couldn't email for a while. I wish they would tell them what they tell us.

Do they come to the ship to sale them? I wished he would call so i can ask details? He was planning on buying a good used one when he gets back, cause he will have cash to pay for one, I messaged him back to think clearly about this, but i don't know if he will receive my message.
I wished they would tell the sailors and marines that the e-mails are messed up, as far as i know my son doesn't know.
And he asked me to send him skoal, Oh my gosh, he is picking up new habits in the Navy!!, LOL
They talked about them coming to the ship to sell cars at one of our predeployment briefs. One of the finance guys mentioned it. He said to be careful. I don't remember if he said that the finance rates were real high or what. Too much has happened since then. Sorry I can't remember more..
My son said in his message that he was getting a Ford Focus, 17,000, I hope that is before all the discounts, that seems a little high with the discounts for a Focus. I don't know , i wished i could talk to him, he really doesn't need to get a new car, just buy a used one when he gets back, then he won't half to worry about paying a car note right now. Hes just E-2, so after paying a car note and insurance, he won't have alot to do stuff with. I just pray he thinks about it first.

My Prayers are with them everyday... Can anyone tell me how I go about getting tickets to be inside the gate when the ship returns? Im not sure how this all works this is my sons first deployment...
Robyn- I am sure the FRG will let ya'll know about that when it is closer to the homecoming date. Not sure how that works either. I know on deployment date I was concerned about how to get on base when he came home and was told by the former ombudsman that one of his buddies would have to take me on base if i don't have "credentials" but my friend was the VP of her hubby's FRG and said that is not true and the FRG will help you figure it out when the time comes.

My sailor called me with some semi-disappointing news. He is set to leave the ship here shortly and after he received his itinerary with dates and plane rides booked, he was told they were pushing it back. He is not happy at all. I keep telling to look on the bright side. he is getting to come home after all.
I will be comming with my parents and my dad has the veterans pass and the permanent car decal. Will that be enough or will I still have to get a pass to? It will be between 5 to 7 of us comming up there.

Barbara, I never did finish the baby book, but it all is on a baby calendar... Now that I have a Cricut machine I maybe will do the baby book, 28 years later... :-)
a.mitchell - I love your boxes! Unfortunately for me my husband has no sense of what is cool or not and would probably think I had gone crazy by decorating the inside of a box. Lol. Besides I only digital scrapbook and I'm pretty sure that doesn't count as being creative.
Sandra- My sailor is (well was till deployment) doing the Homeport Ashore thing. He had his room at Carter Hall on base when he was still on shore duty, so when he changed commands he got to keep it. He is an E3. It was a pain in the butt to get the ship to approve it, couple months with no BAH deposited in his account. Once it was settled, he got an amount that was added and taken out on his paycheck. He also got BAS for his food. He really enjoyed living there. Before hand he lived in a barrack with 4 other guys in the same room. With this he just had to share a kitchen and bathroom with a room mate.
I thought it was kinda cute. I think they should post stuff like that more often. It probably made that little boys day to know that his daddy would get to see that. Things like that make the FB page a more personal, heartfelt page.
I have a friend that was the vice president of her husbands FRG and she the president, the ombudsmen, and the PAO all posted on their page. Maybe that's how ours is working.

You can also go to mynavyexchange.com and do the order that way. They have everything on that website. Once I get my daughter's coverall size, I can place the order and then have them shipped. My son just forwarded a message from frg, i hadn't been on there in a while. You send them pictures of your 4th of july celebration, make signs of telling your sailor you miss them,etc.. They are putting all the pics on dvd and saling them for 5 dollars.So everyone needs to check out the frg flyer, this is a great thing!!
Hello ladies, I am new on this site but my son is currently deployed on the USS Bataan, and this is his first deployment. As it gets closer to the fourth of july I miss him more and more. Sure wish he was home, but I'm so proud of what he is doing as well as all of our young men and women who serve our country!!! Do you know what they are doing for the fourth? :(

When you go to the link you have to fill out the info, and they send an email to your sailor and ask them if you can be added to the site.
After you are approved they send you a log in and password.

My daughter actually called this morning. So nice to hear her voice. All is well she says. She did say she needs more coveralls from the NEX. She wanted to know if we can order them for her since it takes so long to get an internet connection on the ship. Are we allowed to order these from the NEX or does she have to be the one who places the order. When she got the original pairs, she placed the order herself in Norfolk. We live in Pennsylvania, so not sure how best to get her 3 new coveralls. She said she is wearing through them quickly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
