  • ckmom

Must be in the air!  I always miss my son but for the last week it's been worst. I did hear from him yesturday, which made my day. Tears are still there! idk   I want him home!!!
  • Sailor's Mom

This says it all,  I believe....
  • heartbeatsformysailor

I just wanted to introduce myself. This is our first deployment as a couple and it has been very hard.  He is my best friend and the love of my life. We have known each other for 11 years and have been dating for over 2. We have a new baby who is truly a miracle that he has not met yet.  I just moved to Virginia Beach far from my family and friends but it is nice to hear from other women who are also in the same situation who understand what I am going through.  They have been so encouraging.
  • ckmom

Welcome heartbeatsformysailor, we are all here to help each other and glad your here.  What a precious baby, I'm guessing a girl and how old is this little miracle?

What job does your sailor have?

  • heartbeatsformysailor

Thank you everyone.  It has been a huge transition for me but I am looking forward to spending the next few years in Virginia.  At ckmom...she is 7 months old and can't wait to finally see her daddy. She has been through a lot since being born.  She had a heart transplant in May. His rank is MA2.
  • Robyn

It must be I'm having the same issue. I don't cry very often but lately I've been a faucet. I miss my son what seems like more and more everyday. Sometimes I feel stupid because all moms have to let go at some point in time so why am I having such a difficult time doing so. I also just want him home......
  • Robyn

Whoops I was on page 2 sorry about that. Welcome aboard heartbeatsformysalior. Please pardon me I'm just having mommy issues.
  • ckmom

Robyn your not alone at all, I'm having a very hard time with it also.

My husband had send some pictures of the farm and of him harvesting the corn to my son and he said the pictures where great but...made him very homesick.  We didn't want him to feel bad so that made me cry even more!

  • ckmom

About 3 more months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :-)))))))))  It will be here before we know it.
  • Robyn

Thanks guys nice to know I'm not alone.
  • ckmom

Joro,   that would be even harder, Happy Anniversary!  How many years?

Your a great wife and mother!! :-)

  • heartbeatsformysailor

@donna she is great now.  had no problems with her transplant and she is finally picking up weight.  we are blessed.  just can't wait til daddy gets home and gets to hold her for the first time.  bought the cutest lil sailor dress and hat for her to wear. so excited!
  • Becky

@ Sandra AM Mom I know how you are feeling. My son is 19 and went from bootcamp to A school, home for a few days then off to meet the BATAAN in Italy. This time when they were in port I haven't heard from him but the GF has.  I keep telling myself at least he's getting to talk to someone from home but it still makes me sad.  I'll just have to face it mom is no longer the most important woman in his life right now :(   She is a great girl so I won't get to upset ;)
  • JustinsMom175

I am really missing my son right now. Not really sure why, but I didn't hear from my sailor all that much while they were in port either. But I'm glad they had fun.
  • Becky

Donna, I do email him and he emails sometimes.  He does call every few weeks so I do get to talk to him every once in a while.  It is hard but part of being a mother.  I am ok with it I just was having a little pity party for myself ;)  Thank goodness we know they are on the downward slope of this deployment!!  I am hoping the BATAAN facebook page posts some pics soon so we can see what our sailors and marines were up to during their off the ship :)

  • ckmom

Donna,  I got the same message from my son he seems to be homesick also.  I hope the rumors are good ones I could use some of those right now!!
  • ckmom

Donna I'm in the same boat, but he did say he wants a world series t-shirt since we won.  But I think he wants that now not for christmas.
  • JustinsMom175

Happy Halloween ladies!!! Did anyone hear from their sailor today? I got an email but half of it was cut off and it made no sense.
  • heartbeatsformysailor

@JustinsMom175 I got the same thing earlier today and haven't heard from him since.
  • siscarrie

I have been thinking also of what to get my son for Christmas. I was thinking of a ring with navy on it, but i don't want to get the rings that look like graduation rings. Any ideas of where to get one?

I received an e-mail yesterday from him he said he only had 1 day off to do anything in port, he is on crank:( He was hoping to do alot more while in port, he is ready to get home!!!

  • JustinsMom175

SandraAMmom what a cool pumpkin I love it and sicarrie I'm so sorry to hear that I bet your son was not too happy. I'm also having trouble coming up with Christmas ideas. I got an email from my son and he is also very down and homesick said alot of guys in his shop was getting sick and having a hard time adjusting back to their work schedules as well
  • ckmom

Do you think the last port made them sick/
  • JustinsMom175

Emailed with my son some and he said he is starting to feel better but not getting good sleep. Said there is alot if light by his rack :( atleast he is feeling better!
  • Crystal

Please be careful what you post on here. Remember OPSEC!!!!!! Don't wanna be a OPSEC nazi but I wan't to keep our sailors safe.
  • Crystal

I'm not sure but isn't posting the month of return against OPSEC?
  • lxjohnson

Ladies.......I have never commented on this forum but, have been apart of it for almost the entire deployment....The ladies on here keep my spirits high and I enjoy hearing about each and everyone of you..I have noticed that today we have a couple of people that has recently entered our forum that's attempting to bring the outside drama from other forums into this one.......I never understood the term that "loose lips sinks ships" until the tragedy bombing of the uss cole where I lost a dear friend........Regardless to what was researched and trying to prove someone wrong is not going to keep our Marines and Sailors safe...The Love of my Life, Father of my children, best friend (Husband) is on this ship and I want him home safe.....So regardless to YOUR ego please keep dates, months, first names etc. etc. off the public forums......If not for OPSEC....how about common sense.....I Love you ladies and keep up the positive attitudes...
  • heartbeatsformysailor

    lxjohnson...well said.
  • gonavy2010

Sorry to have caused such a commotion...It wasn't done intentionally at all...I hope you all realize that.  Forget sometimes what is ok and not ok to say, write, etc.  The excitement and anxiety of my son being gone, and wanting him to come home safely sometimes gets the best of me.  Just sent 3 more packages out today to him today...hoping he receives them by Thanksgiving.  Hope everyone has a great day and hear's from their loved ones before too long.

My sons first assignment... Operations Specialist.. is flying out to Africa the day before his birthday... how do I send him anything?  Will I be able to reach him on a phone?
  • Becky

@ Sandra AM Mom I don't know how big the box is you sent out but what I have been doing is sending it through the post office I get a flat rate box so it can weigh up to 75 pds.  They are kinda small but it is only about $13.00 so if everything doesn't fit in one it's still cheaper for me to send 2.  And as I am sure you know if you get creative you can really fill it :)  I hope this may help.   I hope your son and the rest of the sailors are feeling better!
  • mel

how  do we send things to them?  This is my sons first assignment...

  • mel

    my email adress is mmmelmason@yahoo.com

  • ckmom

My son is on FB they have new pictures posted he is on the 9th picture with the long sleeve green t-shirt on.   That just made my weekend!!  :-))))
  • ckmom

Sandra   I don't know I did emailed him.  So I will let you know.  It was good to see he was having fun!
  • Sailor's Mom

Cleaning up the flight deck... Honestly!!
  • ckmom

Oh ic ic!   At least he looked like he was having fun.  It made my day!!
  • ckmom

Yea, You would think they would have a big vacuum.
  • ckmom

Received an email from Curtis, he said they had to do a FOD walk down because somehow a whole bunch of little bebe's got all over the deck. So they had to crawl around and pick them up.

Thanks Joro for the info, I understand that better now. That could cause a big problem!

  • gonavy2010

We were able to talk to our son on the phone yesterday morning...he sounded so upbeat.  I do believe the last port helped morale greatly.  Being a MMFN he is always in the pit, works very long hours so I do believe a little fresh air did him good!  Made my weekend to hear his voice!

  • siscarrie

Has anyone heard about the sweatshirt orders? I ordered 3 so just wondering, its been a long time since i sent my order in.
  • ckmom

I never received mine either and the check went through a few weeks ago.
  • ckmom

Sandra, hope you are all ok with the earthquakes!!

Courtney, thanks for checking on the shirts.

  • siscarrie

Thanks Courtney for checking for us!!!

Sandra, i saw that on the news, I hope everything is ok and they stop soon.

  • mel

He is meeting his admiral on his birthday,,, tomorrow...problem is it's a two day plane trip.. his first assignment and is ehausted from excitement!!!

  • Crystal

@ Joro Thanks, I was at a lost as to what to put in the Christmas package. Now I have some ideas.

  • gonavy2010

@ Joro great Christmas ideas!  DVD's are a great idea too thanks CathyA.  My son was telling me the other day that he had the opportunity to get up on deck at night, he laid down on the deck floor and looked up at the sky...said it was the most spectacular sight he had ever seen, the stars are so close and beautiful....made him feel a little closer to home.  His experiences are just awesome to me.
